Written in about 970AD, the Exeter Book is the oldest of only four surviving books of Anglo-Saxon literature anywhere in the world. Much admired for its beautiful writing and the quality of its verse, this unique book of poetry has been at Exeter Cathedral since Leofric, the first Bishop of Exeter, gave it to his church in around 1072. Big Mix music festival promises a big, wide world of sound in Lyme

Andrew Millington has been Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral since September 1999. He studied the organ at Worcester Cathedral before gaining an Organ Scholarship to Downing College, Cambridge. In 1975 he became Assistant Organist at Gloucester Cathedral and in 1983 he succeeded Philip Moore as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Guildford Cathedral. He has worked with several leading orchestras and he is well known as a recitalist. He has made several recordings as an organ soloist, including a highly-acclaimed DVD on the organ of Exeter...

Heinrich Wimmer was born in 1964 and studied with Prof. Klemens Schnorr at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Munich.

For over 20 years he has been organist at the church of St. Jacob to Burghausen, Salzach , where he initiated the construction of the church's Rieger organ.

He has given recitals across Europe and the Far East including all the major organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Max Reger.

Wednesday 10th June saw Exeter based business networking group ‘City Wall’ host a launch event to mark its move to The Southgate Hotel, Exeter.

With a 30% growth in members in the last 6 months the group needed to ensure it was equipped to support its continued growth.

Creating a Midsummer buzz on Dartmoor

On Midsummer’s Day, Sunday 21 June , there’ll be a buzz being created in Princetown for the launch of a new project – the Dartmoor Conservation Garden. This project, sited in the Jack Wigmore Garden behind the National Park Visitor Centre, is hosted by the Dartmoor Preservation Association, with support from the Dartmoor National Park Your Dartmoor Fund.
