Half term family fun at RAMM

This May half-term holiday there are extra events planned for families with children at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM).

The free bee bags and explorer bags, interactives and the World Cultures family area gallery are always available and always popular with children. Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital has been named as a top performing hospital in the provision of orthopaedic care to NHS patients in the most recent NHS Partners Network (NHSPN) Report on Independent sector providers care for NHS patients.

House prices rise

UK house prices increased by 9.6% in the year to March 2015, up from 7.4% in the year to February 2015, according to the Office For National Statistics.

House price annual inflation was 9.4% in England, 5.7% in Wales, 14.6% in Scotland and 7.5% in Northern Ireland. This is the highest annual increase in Scotland since July 2007.

The pace of annual house price growth increased across the majority of the UK.

Annual house price increases in England were driven by an annual increase in the East (11.4%), London (11.2%) and the South East (11.2%).

Cats and kittens need your help

Exeter Axhayes adoption centre has around 150 cats and kittens in their care at the moment and more waiting to come in.

They are in need of volunteers to help out at the centre. They have various roles available, from cat socialisers, to cat care, cleaning,gardeners, DIY to fundraising. You can commit to as much or as little as you like, even on an adhoc basis helping out at events, if that is what suits you.

New key roles at Teignbridge

Teignbridge District Council has announced key roles following the local elections.

Teignbridge’s Full Council on Tuesday 19 May 2015 saw Cllr Mike Hocking, who represents the Newton Abbot ward of Bradley, elected as new council chairman.

Get you bike fixed for free

People in Exeter can get their bikes fixed for free at several fun-filled events taking place over the next two weeks as part of a new nationwide campaign called The Big Bike Revival that aims to get everyone out cycling over the summer.

The search is on for the funniest and most creative business name in Exeter with the launch of the Small Business Pun of the Year 2015.

The awards, launched by build-your-own-app service Appsme.com, aims to find the shop or small business with the most side-splitting name. It was with a heavy heart that Dean Mumm trudged down the players’ tunnel at Sandy Park for the final time on Saturday afternoon.

A qualified medical herbalist from East Devon will be sharing her knowledge of everyday foods and their health benefits with visitors at this weekend’s River Cottage Spring Food Fair.
