Diocese tweets the Passion

The Diocese of Exeter has been tweeting the whole passion story, from Palm Sunday, and will continue until sunrise on Easter Sunday. The story has been rewritten for tweeting in the first person and from Jesus’s perspective and will be sent out in ‘real time’ throughout Holy Week. Canon Andrew Godsall said: “The idea with tweeting the passion is to help people relate to a familiar story in a contemporary way. Jesus used contemporary phrases all of the time. He wanted to make people sit up and listen so he used provocative words. Sometimes people got the wrong end of the stick – and maybe...

Some progress in the South West despite disappointing Budget

The Civil Engineering Contractors Association ( CECA ) has called on government to elevate the status of key infrastructure projects in the South West to boost economic development.

Alan Taylor, Executive Director of CECA for the south west, says that while the £3bn extra capital investment announced in the Budget was to be welcomed, the delay until 2015 was a missed opportunity to help boost the regional economy.

“A ‘jam tomorrow’ approach does little to address the urgent need to harness the power of infrastructure investment to deliver real and sustainable economic...
