Nobody said Exeter's first-ever involvement in the Heineken Cup would be easy, but Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter refused to be too downbeat despite seeing his side slip to a second successive defeat in the competition against French giants Clermont Auvergne at Sandy Park.

With Baxter's side leading 12-10 at the break thanks to four Gareth Steenson penalties, the Devon club - who had lost narrowly to reigning champions Leinster in their opening fixture in Dublin - were then hit by a ferocious second half attacking display from the visitors.

Clermont were simply sublime...

Exeter University has announced it is working with Coca-Cola on a project which will try to understand household recycling behaviours.

Recycling rates in Great Britain and France remain below most other European countries, despite growing awareness of environmental concerns among consumers.

Only approximately half of plastic bottles are collected for recycling in these countries; as a result, manufacturers face restrictions in the supply of locally available recycled PET.

While consumers express strong beliefs related to recycling, at-home recycling rates do not...

Former England goalkeeper David James, who has been training with Exeter City, says the row over racism in football has not been helped by the FA's slowness to respond to the John Terry case.

The debate was intensified over the weekend when Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was among a number of players who did not wear a campaign T-shirt in the warm-up against Stoke.

However, Professional Footballers' Association chairman Clarke Carlisle has defended the protest against the Kick It Out anti-racism campaign.

Exeter Chiefs' first taste of Heineken Cup rugby in Devon turned sour as French visitors Clermont Auvergne served up a Saturday night treat at Sandy Park.

Vern Cotter's side were in inspired form as they ran in six tries - five of them in the second half - to maintain pole position of Pool 5 after the first two round.

The hosts led 12-10 at half-time through four Gareth Steenson (pictured) penalties, with Clermont replying via a Napolioni Nalaga try and Morgan Parra's boot.

However, two tries soon after the break from French internationals Wesley Fofana and...

Exeter City’s poor run of results continued as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Chesterfield. In a close game a first-half header by Chris Atkinson was enough to claim all three points for the visitors at St James Park. Both sides wasted a host chances with Ci´ty going close late-on in the second-half through Guillem Bauza and Scott Bennett. The visitors had goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell to thank after the keeper produced a series of fine saves to earn Chesterfield all 3 points.

City manager Paul Tisdale made a host of changes from the 3-0 defeat to Northampton last Saturday....

The Great Exeter Tea Cosy Competition comes to Exeter

There is something exciting going on at The Hub on the Green and word is spreading. There is talk of tea cosies in school playgrounds, street corners and all over Twitter.

Liz Croft, who volunteers her time to run the knitting group at the hub, had a lovely idea to start a tea cosy competition and Joey Lee who runs The Hub on the Green challenged her to take it outside of the hub and make it something rather special. And she has.

So The Great Exeter Tea Cosy Competition now has a silver teapot trophy, an amazing array of prizes, an impressive judging panel and the goodwill...
