Fundraisers at chartered accountants Francis Clark have handed over £4,000 to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) to buy a specialist piece of life-saving equipment.

The money, which was raised in a variety of ways including a charity golf day, sponsorship, dress-down days, raffles, bake-offs, book sales and donations, has gone to buying a video laryngoscope, which provides a high definition image of a patient’s airways. Really Big Quiz is Biggest Ever!

Exeter’s 10th annual Really Big Quiz really did turn out to be the biggest ever, raising an impressive £5,981.90 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity, SOCOPS – the most ever raised at the event.

Organised by chartered accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards, this year with support from Tozers Solicitors, the quiz took place at the Corn Exchange in Exeter on Wednesday 8 May. More teams from local businesses entered than ever before, with a reserve list having to be started after the venue’s capacity of 70 teams was reached.

Space have helped Old Mill accountants relocate offices in Exeter, Yeovil and a move last month from Shepton Mallet to Wells. Now the firm are taking over a second floor of their new Exeter office as staffing numbers expand.

Space sourced and oversaw Old Mill’s move to the 3,000 square foot ground floor of Leeward House in Exeter Business Park two years ago. Since then the 20 staff have expanded to 30, with plans to add at least a further 20 jobs over the next seven years.

A donation from Haines Watts Chartered Accountants Exeter to their Charity of the Year, Families for Children Adoption Agency (FFC), has enabled the worthy cause to run two preparation courses for potential adopters. Haines Watts, based in Southernhay, raised over £2,000 for FFC through various activities and networking events over the 12-month period. Two young executives from Exeter firm Thomas Westcott Accountants, have qualified as a chartered certified accountants. Philip Cooke, 23 and Laura Kitchin, 22, who have both been with the firm since they were teenagers, have completed their studies and are now Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accredited.
