Chiefs v Bath sold out

Sunday's Aviva Premiership clash between Exeter Chiefs and Bath Rugby is now officially sold out.

The remaining tickets for the game, which will kick off at 1pm, were sold this afternoon.

It means a crowd of over 12,500 will be expected inside Sandy Park for the fixture which pits the Westcountry rivals against each other. It also marks the fourth sold out fixture at home for the Chiefs this season.

For those supporters unable to attend Sunday's game, you can keep up to date with the game through the Exeter Chiefs Twitter and Facebook accounts, whilst the game...

Baxter pleased with win

Rob Baxter hailed his Exeter Chiefs side as they returned to winning ways in the Aviva Premiership with a 22-15 victory over lowly London Irish at the Madejski Stadium.

Following back-to-back losses against Saracens and Sale Sharks, a strong second half display from the Devonians saw them overturn a 7-6 deficit at the break to record their ninth league win of the campaign.

Replacement Dave Lewis claimed Exeter’s only try of the game, while fly-half Gareth Steenson weighed in with 17 points courtesy of a conversion and five penalties.

Baxter calm after defeat

Never one to get carried away in victory or defeat, Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter remained level-headed after seeing his side slip to a second successive Aviva Premiership defeat.

Sale Sharks maintained their unbeaten home record this season by inflicting a 23-17 loss on their rivals from Devon at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Johnny Leota, Nev Edwards and Mike Haley all crossed for first half tries as the Sharks stormed into a 17-0 lead at the break. The Chiefs, however, were much improved after the interval and countered with converted scores of their own through Jack...

Chiefs side to face Sale Sharks

Rob Baxter insists his Exeter Chiefs cannot wait to get back into Aviva Premiership action following two weeks of battle in the European Champions Cup.

In what was a mixed fortnight for Devon’s finest against French rivals ASM Clermont Auvergne, this Saturday it’s Sale Sharks who provide the opposition at Sandy Park (3pm) in Exeter’s final game of 2015.

And as Baxter readied his troops for their latest league battle, the Chiefs head coach was in upbeat mood as he looked ahead to the Boxing Day match-up.

“We’re really looking forward to getting back into the...

Baxter reflects on Saracens defeat

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter insisted he would not panic despite seeing his side’s 15-match winning streak at Sandy Park ended by visiting Saracens.

The boot of Charlie Hodgson proved to be the Chiefs undoing in the second half after they had raced into an early lead through James Short’s intercept try against his former club and two Gareth Steenson penalties.

Samuela Vunisa’s try just before the interval also proved important as the home side turned around from a first half with a strong wind behind them with only an 11-5 lead.

And after the break the Chiefs...

Baxter's men robbed of try

Exeter Chiefs saw their 13-month long unbeaten home record fall by the wayside as defending Aviva Premiership champions Saracens came back from 11-0 down to record victory at a packed Sandy Park.

The league leaders chalked up their 10th win in 11 Premiership starts to extend their lead at the top of the table over the Chiefs to five points. A first half try from No.8 Samu Vunisa and three second half penalties from the Premiership’s all-time top points-scorer, Charlie Hodgson, saw Mark McCall’s side to success against Devon’s finest.

Earlier, though, all appeared rosy for...

Worcester 15 Chiefs 30

Exeter Chiefs maintained their lofty status in the Aviva Premiership as a powerful second half performance saw them to victory over Worcester Warriors.

Having netted first half tries through James Short and Ian Whitten, one of which was converted by Gareth Steenson, Rob Baxter’s side were unable to shake off the Worcester shackles.

Four first half penalties from Tom Heathcote ensured the two turned round all level at 12-apiece and although the Scotsman added a fifth kick early in the second half, it was scant reward as the Devonians finally kicked into gear.

No.8...

Short ready for Worcester test

No sooner had the final whistle blown on Sunday night then Exeter winger James Short was already looking to the future and the next challenge that awaits the in-form Chiefs.

Fresh from securing their place in the last eight of the European Champions Cup for the first time in the club’s history, now Devon’s finest are hard at work preparing for their impending trip to Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership this weekend.

Sunday’s showdown at Sixways (3pm) marks the start of a demanding ten-week block of top flight fixtures for Rob Baxter’s side, who currently lie second...

Whitten wary of Gloucester

Ian Whitten has warned Exeter Chiefs can ill afford to take for granted their proud home record when they play host to rivals Gloucester in Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash (3pm).

The two teams meet for the first top flight game of 2016 at Sandy Park, a venue which has become somewhat fortress-like for Rob Baxter’s side over the past 12 months.

Ironically, it was the Cherry & Whites who were the last side to emerge victorious from Exeter in any competition, winning 26-25 in yet another nail-biting encounter between the two adversaries.

Since then, plenty have...

We can't dwell on loss says Rimmer

Carl Rimmer insists Exeter Chiefs can ill afford to dwell on their loss at Northampton Saints as Aviva Premiership rivals Gloucester now loom large on the horizon.

In their first outing of 2016, Rob Baxter’s side suffered only their second league defeat of the season as they went down 8-3 at Franklin’s Gardens.

On a disappointing afternoon for the visitors, the one small crumb of comfort they could take from their trip to the East Midlands was the crucial losing bonus point accrued thanks to Gareth Steenson’s late penalty.

Although defeated, the Chiefs maintained...
