Teignbridge’s beaches have once again been recognised as being amongst the best in the UK as Dawlish Warren celebrates a 20th consecutive year of receiving the coveted Blue Flag award.
Leading environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy today also announced that Teignmouth Town Beach, Dawlish Main Beach, Coryton Cove at Dawlish and Shaldon’s Ness Cove had retained their Seaside Awards.
The independently assessed seal of approval is awarded to beaches which achieve very high quality standards excellent cleanliness, safe access and appropriate signage.
The East Devon seasonal dog ban is now in force. The ban covers all of the town beaches in East Devon, other than some designated areas on each beach.
Dog owners, visitors and walkers are reminded to check on the council website at http://eastdevon.gov.uk/dogs/ if they are not sure where they can take their dog.

Teignbridge District Council has launched their 2017 ‘Don’t be a Dumper’ campaign, aimed at getting people to pick up after their pooch and reduce the amount of dog mess left on the sands and seafront areas of local resorts.
Throughout the week, starting Monday 30 January, Teignbridge’s resorts staff will be using glow in the dark temporary spray paint to mark dog mess on the promenade areas. Dog wardens will be out in force and will fine anyone who is seen not picking up. A clear up will take place on Friday 3 February to remove what’s been left behind.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) have received reports of several Portuguese Men-of-War washing up on beaches in Cornwall and Scilly Isles just weeks after authorities in Ireland warned local beach goers about a spate of recent strandings of this potentially dangerous floating sea creature.
