Visually impaired people in Devon are being invited to see if they are eligible for a free specially adapted radio from a charity.

British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) provides the equipment to those with sight loss across the UK to meet its criteria.

Radio is a lifeline to those who are blind and partially sighted as they often lead lonely lives, unable to read or watch the television.

A national charity is appealing for volunteers to come forward and help the blind people it supports in the Exeter area.

British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF) provides specially adapted audio equipment to visually impaired people across the UK.

The charity is looking for radio support volunteers, whose role would be to visit people with sight loss in their homes throughout Exeter, install their new radio and teach them how to use it as well as provide on-going support where needed.

Online workshops for people with sight loss

A sight loss charity in Exeter is holding sessions on how to use the internet in the upcoming weeks.

The Royal National Institute of Bling People (RNIB) is a charity set up to support those with sight loss, and with their online today project.

76 percent of adults now access the internet everyday as found in 2014 compared to 38 percent in 2012.

The project will provide 125,000 people with the knowledge of how to get online and use the necessary technology to enable them to make the most of the internet.

WESC Foundation is seeking the support of greeting card consumers in the South West in the run up to Christmas as part of a new fundraising initiative.

The centre for visual impairment has partnered with Exeter-based DontSendMeACard.com to offer a range of e-cards that support WESC. The website offers users the ability to send e-cards in replacement of greeting cards and to donate how much they would have spent on sending cards.
