Devon County council has announced plans to cut the cost of its mobile library service

Under the changes, 65 of the most under-used mobile library stops will be removed from routes from April onwards.

Users of the remaining 454 stops will see the frequency of visits change from fortnightly to monthly.

Whle some people will have the opportunity to receive books and spoken-word items delivered to their homes instead.

A national scheme offering ‘books on prescription' to people with mental health problems is to be rolled out across Devon.

RAMM’s chief patron, Michael Morpurgo, will be spending the evening of Friday 26 April with a packed audience at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum.

The award-winning author of War Horse , Private Peaceful and Adolphus Tips is a passionate supporter of museums and became RAMM’s chief patron in 2011. He has visited RAMM many times as a parent, grandparent and writer. Book lovers in Devon are being invited to celebrate World Book Night at the County Council’s libraries next week.

Each year World Book Night organisers recruit 20,000 volunteers to hand out 20 copies of their favourite book from the World Book Night list to members of their community who don’t regularly read.
