Stagecoach SW invests £2.5m in 14 new high-spec vehicles

Stagecoach South West has invested £2.5m in a fleet of 14 new, state-of-the-art, British built, single decker buses in Exeter – just in time for Christmas.

All of the vehicles boast luxurious high-backed, e-leather seats and multiple USB charging points.

As with the rest of the fleet, the new buses are fitted with technology that will allow customers to use the Stagecoach mobile app to track their bus live.

Local school children hopped aboard Stagecoach’s revamped ‘Big Beach Bus’ to celebrate its start of service for 2018.

The open-top ‘Big Beach Bus’ hit the road earlier than normal this year to coincide with the opening of Devon Cliffs Holiday Park for its new season. The 95 route connects the Park, located at Sandy Bay, with World of Country Life, Littleham, Exmouth sea front and Exmouth town centre.

Stagecoach South West has announced that the South West Falcon, its 24/7 coach service connecting Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol Airport and Bristol City Centre, has been shortlisted at the UK Coach Awards 2017 for ‘Making Coaches a Better Choice’.

Stagecoach South West has unveiled a new fleet of open-top buses for the Bay. The sneak preview took place for businesses attending this year’s Tourism Exhibition & Conference at the Riviera Centre on 15 March.

The Golden Hop122 will start on 29 April and run right through the summer season up to every 20 minutes, 7 days a week. The fleet of six buses will connect St Marychurch, Torquay, Paignton and Paignton Zoo. New operations director appointed at Stagecoach SW

Stagecoach South West announced today that it has appointed an Operations Director to join its senior management team. Paul Clark, currently General Manager at Stagecoach in Hull, is due to start with the operator on 2 May.

The appointment comes after the regional operator has undergone several years of significant network growth including a greatly enhanced network in North Devon, the purchase of assets from First in Plymouth and the launch of the South West Falcon inter-regional coach service.

Ride the buses of Yesteryear in Exeter

A rare chance to ride on the old buses of Devon General and Exeter City Transport will be available, for one day only on Sunday 19th March. Owners of around 20 preserved buses will be providing rides around Exeter between 10.00am and 5.00pm.

Stagecoach South West has launched mobile ticketing through its smartphone app, allowing customers to instantly buy and download day tickets to their smartphones.

The introduction of mobile ticketing technology means customers can buy their day ticket and have it ready to use before boarding the bus. Day tickets bought via the app can be paid for using PayPal, or a debit or credit card, providing an additional payment option for customers alongside existing smart ticketing and cash payments.

Stagecoach revamps Park & Ride to create new cross city connection

Stagecoach South West announced today that, starting from 3 January 2017, it is merging its Blue, SR4 (Sowton) and Green (Matford) park and ride services.

This will create a new cross-city connection with the route simply branded as ‘Green’ park and ride. The Red park and ride timetable, serving Honiton Road, will remain unchanged.

The new service will operate up to every 15 minutes, 6 days a week, with the end-to-end journey taking around half an hour.

Christmas and New Year bus services

Stagecoach South West has confirmed details of its Christmas bus services, with services operating throughout the holiday period excluding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Buses across the network will finish early on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve with the majority of services ending around 8.30pm on both days. Fans travelling to Sandy Park for the Christmas Eve Chiefs match are advised that the last C bus will leave Sandy Park at 8.30pm.
