Devon’s search for best bus driver

Bus passengers in Devon are among the happiest in the country according to a new survey which ranks Devon high for overall satisfaction.

Of the 800 plus Devon people who took part in the national survey by Passenger Focus, a record 90 per cent recorded their satisfaction overall, which includes 95 per cent of passengers with a disability.

Value for money, punctuality, bus and bus stop cleanliness all score well, with satisfaction levels higher in most cases to last year’s figures.

Six new Stagecoach buses to serve East Devon route

Stagecoach South West announced today that customers travelling on routes 56 (Exeter – Exeter Airport – Woodbury – Exmouth) and 157 (Exmouth – Budleigh Salterton – Newton Poppleford – Sidmouth) are receiving an early Christmas present – six brand new buses!

The first three of the single deckers enter service today (Thursday 5th December 2013) and the remainder are due to arrive prior to Christmas.

The vehicles feature over 20% more capacity than those they replace, modern interiors and environmentally friendly engines that meet Euro 5 standards.

Stagecoach South West supports 2013 Poppy Appeal

Stagecoach South West is helping to support the Royal British Legion's 2013 Poppy Appeal which honours and remembers service personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The local transport operator is providing poppies for all their staff that choose to wear them with a donation made to the Royal British Legion. It has also donated advertising space inside its buses to help promote the appeal.

The WHOTT Historic Bus and Commercial Vehicle Rally

Colin hangs up his keys after clocking up 700,000 miles

A Stagecoach employee who has spent 42 years ‘on the buses’ has hung up his keys for the last time.

As an examiner Colin Kneeshaw was the man whose approval many drivers had to win before passing their test. But despite his intimidating role, he was a popular member of the team who, during his time, made a piece of company history.

Colin, 66, joined the former Devon General as a conductor after leaving the army. He only intended working for six months “until something better came along” but stayed for 12 and was then asked to train as a driver.

Stagecoach Gold is coming to the South West

Stagecoach South West has announced that, starting 30 September 2013, they are introducing two brand new ‘Stagecoach Gold’ routes which will operate between Torquay, Paignton, Totnes and Plymouth or Dartmouth. The introduction of the flagship ‘5-star’ brand to Devon is a coup for customers, reserved for only a select number of locations across the country.

Devon's buses rated amongst the best in the country

Bus passengers using Stagecoach are more satisfied with their service than customers using other national UK operators, according to new independent research.

Consumer watchdog Passenger Focus found that 86% of Stagecoach bus passengers were either fairly or very satisfied with their overall service, with only 5% dissatisfied.

The overall customer ratings for Stagecoach were higher than three other national UK bus operators: Arriva (85%), First (81%) and National Express (78%). Passenger Focus does not include Go Ahead in the national operator results due to the small...
