Thousands of people are expected to head into the city centre for the long-awaited return of Exeter Carnival on Saturday.
The official charity of Exeter Carnival is Young Lives vs Cancer, who will be part of the parade collecting on the night.
Organisers are reminding people not to throw coins for safety reasons. Anyone would like to donate to the charity should do so by dropping spare change directly into collecting buckets.

This year’s procession will be bigger and better than last year with over 60 entries! Participants will be attending from all over Devon – Totnes, Torbay, South Brent, Tiverton, Chulmleigh and Axminster to name a few as well as many local Exmouth & East Devon entries. Exmouth Carnival Spring Fun Day - Saturday 16th May, The Strand, Exmouth, 9.00am - 5.00pm
There will be over 60 stalls selling plants, handmade gifts, crafts and jewellery, toys, cakes, clothing, ceramics plus lots, lots more.
In addition to this we will have owls and birds of prey from the Bird & Owl Sanctuary, animals from The World of Country Life, a children’s entertainer, face painting, an inflatable assault course, toddler soft play area, rodeo ride, balloon modelling and traditional adults and children's games.

Billed in the programme as having new ideas and fresh energy, this year's program includes some new events including a family fun day featuring The Wild Experience (where you can see and handle wild animals), an Antiques Valuation Evening, and Diamondogz 70s Night (an evening of glam rock in Matthews Hall).

Ottery St Mary's carnival week starts with the popular illuminated carnival procession through the town on Friday 26 October at 7.45pm.
Over the next few days there will be plenty of events and entertainment to enjoy including Thick as Thieves playing at The Institute on Saturday and a treasure hunt around the town on Sunday. On Wednesday there will be a children's Hallowe'en disco at Ottery Football Club, a quiz night on Friday, and Ottery's Got Talent at the King's School on Saturday 3 November.
