Carols in the Cathedral - with a note of history

Over two nights in December, the voices of Exeter Philharmonic Choir will be joined by well-known historian Dr Todd Gray, adding a historical note to the choir’s popular Carols in the Cathedral.

Dr Gray is compering the concerts at Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December, blending the festive music with his own reflections on Devon Christmases, past and present.

The glorious voice of soprano Milly Forrest and the brilliance of trumpeters Cameron Todd and Fraser Tannock will add extra sparkle to the evenings’ performances.

Virtual Christmas Carol Service at The Donkey Sanctuary 

The Donkey Sanctuary will once again hold its virtual Carols by Candlelight service from its international headquarters in Sidmouth, Devon this Friday 10 December.

Hosted by celebrant and former BBC Radio Bristol presenter Emma Britton, the event gets underway at 6pm and will be available to watch on The Donkey Sanctuary’s website.

Buckfast Abbey’s popular Christmas Market returns

Buckfast Abbey, in South Devon, has this week announced the line-up for its first Christmas Market in over two years. Taking place on Saturday 11th (10am-5.30pm) and Sunday 12th December (12.30-5.30pm), the market features more than 40 independent stalls ranging from crafts to local artisan food and drink producers.

BBC Radio Devon's festive celebrations

BBC Radio Devon will be recording their annual Christmas carol service at Exeter Cathedral on Tuesday 17th December, and they are inviting the people of Exeter to come along and join them.

The carol service will be one of many celebrations for the radio station this year. BBC Radio Devon celebrated their 30th birthday with a charity appeal of ‘Give a Gift’ for the Devon Community Foundation.
