Make traditional Christmas decorations in the parlour.
In the morning, Mistresses Eleanor and Christina will also be in the kitchen showing visitors how to prepare sweetmeats, decorations and delicacies for the Hursts’ Christmas celebrations.
Inspired by the run-away hit movie produced by Warner Bros. Entertainment and the award winning book by Chris Van Allsburg, this very special train ride is inspired by magic and designed to delight and inspire your family this festive season.
The Polar Express train makes a mystical round-trip journey to the North Pole. The characters of the story come to life with the conductor punching away at the children’s golden tickets, chefs dancing and delivering hot chocolate and cookies, and the doubting hobo wandering through the train. The story is read aloud and the music from the...

It’s been a year of amazing smartphones and, as we’re coming up to Christmas, we thought we’d list the top five smartphones on the market right now.
iPhone 5C
Touted as the new, cheap, practical iPhone, you may disagree when you see the price tag (£469 inc VAT for a 16GB). It’s basically an iPhone 5 in a different shell and with fewer features. It feels more practical in that if you drop it it might not be the end of the world, but it’s really expensive for what it is. We think there are cheaper and more impressive Android options out there...

John Lewis has given a preview of its annual Christmas advert campaign today.
The John Lewis Christmas advert has quickly become one of the early signs of Christmas since the 2010 advert featuring a boy who waits all year to give rather than get a presents was a national hit.
This year’s advert continues the theme of the previous years of going the extra mile to get your loved one the perfect gift.
In a classically animated advert the story of best friends, a bear and hare is set to a Cover of Keane’s ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ sung by Lily Allen.
Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre has launched an appeal for Christmas.
The centre has 200-plus cats and kittens in its care, all looking for new homes. Sadly this means that many cats and kittens have to spend Christmas and New Year in the centre.
This year the Adoption Centre has launch its Santa Paws Appeal.
The idea is a simple one. They are asking that people fill a box, similar in size to a Felix cat food box with cat toys, food, treats, possibly a Christmas card. Then wrap it up and donate it to the centre.
Boxes can be taken to the centre or dropped off...
