East Devon supports Armed Forces Day

East Devon District Council was proud to be one of 450 councils - when it raised the British Armed Forces Flag at Knowle in Sidmouth today (22 June) - taking part in celebrations to support the 7th annual Armed Forces Day, which is being held on Saturday 27 June.

This nationwide morale boosting campaign publically recognises the braveness and hard work undertaken by serving troops, reservists, veterans, cadets and Service families. The flag will continue to remain flying in the week leading up to Armed Forces Day.

Archaeological conservation day

Help Dartmoor National Park Rangers and Archaeologists carry out vital archaeological conservation work on Thursday 12 March at Holne Moor.

A number of important prehistoric burial cairns have become covered by gorse and bracken which threatens their long term condition. These impressive monuments, thought to be around 3,500 to 4,000 years old form an important part of the internationally regarded archaeological landscape of Holne Moor. We need your help to clear these sites of invasive vegetation and ensure that they are preserved for future generations.

Fostering information event in Exeter

People interested in becoming foster carers are invited to attend an information event run by Foster Care Associates (FCA) at Sainsbury's Pinhoe store in Exeter on Wednesday 11 February, 10am-2pm.

Seaton Jurassic information day

A drop-in information day will be held on Thursday 27 November in Seaton Town Hall for people to find out more about Seaton Jurassic, the new visitor attraction for the Jurassic Coast. Be a Hero for BBC Children in Need

Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park is inviting all guests to ‘be a hero’ on Friday 14th November to support BBC Children in Need as part of the charity’s #CaptainCostume campaign.

Children who visit the Park dressed up as their favourite Superhero on the day will receive a free Pudsey bandana and have the opportunity to take part in a fancy dress parade at 12pm in the Adventure Zone. Pupils get a taste of council work in Sam ’n Ella’s kitchen

Forty pupils from local primary schools "took over" East Devon District Council for a day and had a go at running things.

They even got a ‘taste’ of the work done by EDDC’s Environmental Health inspectors when they visited Sam ’n Ella’s kitchen at Knowle in Sidmouth for a food hygiene check.
