£40k revamp of airport search area

Work has started on a £400,000 project to expand and redevelop the Security Search Area at Exeter Airport.

The new enlarged design for the area, with additional screening equipment, will make the passenger journey through the security process faster and more efficient.

Exeter Airport’s operations director Stephen Wiltshire said: “The completion of the work will coincide with the start of the new London City Airport service which starts on 27 October.

Teignbridge 20-year plan gets go ahead

A planning inspector has declared Teignbridge District Council’s 20-year Plan Teignbridge document for the future to be sound, and has given the go-ahead for it to be adopted by the council.

The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) issued its final report into the council’s plan yesterday which maps out how jobs, homes, including affordable, community facilities, roads, country parks, and more will be provided to meet local needs over the next 20 years.

In his report the Inspector said:

A developer is being sought for Queen’s Drive Leisure Area, the unique 9.3 acre seafront site in Exmouth.

This follows the outline planning approval obtained in December 2013 for the development of the site into a recreation and leisure zone.

The site is being marketed on behalf of East Devon District Council by property consultants, Jones Lang LaSalle, appointed using the standard local authority procurement process.

£7m shopping centre plans go on show

Members of the public will be able to see at first hand Aviva Investors’ £7 million plans for the remodelling of the Guildhall Shopping Centre in Exeter at an event to be held on Tuesday 21 January.

The event will take place between 11am and 4pm at Unit 13 in the Centre’s Market Arcade and will feature a display showing architect’s drawings, CGIs and artist’s impressions. It will also include details about the thought processes behind the designs, the materials to be used and the timescales involved in the project.

Feniton "super inquiry" needs larger venue

East Devon District Council has reluctantly decided to move the venue of the Feniton ‘super inquiry’ because the initial location is not big enough for the eight-day hearing.

After appeals by three developers against EDDC’s refusal of planning permission for their proposals, the Planning Inspectorate decided to combine appeal hearings for three Feniton sites into a single event.

The appeals are by Feniton Park Ltd for Acland Park (32 homes), Strategic Land Partnership for land west of Ottery Road (up to 120 homes) and Wainhomes for an extension to the 50 homes allowed at...

Members of Alphington Village Forum met with Bovis Homes on Monday (10/12/13) to express their views and objections to the Developer's new plans in the strongest terms.
