The future of an Exeter Youth Club, held at The Grenville on Ringswell Avenue in the Barton Hill area of Exeter, is currently under threat following the announcement by Devon County Council that the Club would have to close from 14th December.
The closure is due to the transfer of the land from the County Council to the Royal Academy for Deaf Education, which is due to relocate there from its current Topsham Road site in September 2014. Since the news was announced, County Councillor Olwen Foggin and City Councillor Rosie Denham have been trying to find ways to help keep...

Devon County Council leader John Hart is to visit Exeter next week as part his tour of Devon to hear how the authority can help local people improve local life.
For the past three years Mr Hart has staged successful consultation events across the county. The feedback from these meetings - and online responses too - has helped county leaders take tough choices and ensured scarce resources are concentrated on the things most important to Devon people.

Devon County Council has welcomed a High Court ruling that the way it calculates the fees it pays to independent sector care homes is fair and reasonable.
The judgement that the decision on fees was “a rational one which was preceded by a fair consultation process” comes after a judicial review into the way that this year’s 6.6% increase in fees was calculated.
The legal challenge was brought by a small number of independent care home owners and made on three separate grounds.
In addition to claiming the model used to calculate fee levels was flawed and unreasonable...

Devon has over 700 children in care, and just over 300 fostering households. However many current foster carers are approaching retirement age so the County Council needs to...
