Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre Summer fundraiser

The Friends of Axhayes are a group of volunteers who organise events and raise money for Exeter Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre.

This year’s summer fundraising event will be held at America Hall, De la Rue Way, Pinhoe, Exeter, EX4 8PX on Saturday 1st July 2017.

The doors open to the public at 11am and the event will end at 3pm and entrance is free, although donations (monetary or of cat food) will be welcome.

There will be many stalls including children’s face painting, bric-a-brac, new and used books, crafts and more.

Body found in water at Exeter Quay

The body of a 21-year-old man was discovered by police divers in Exeter Quay during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesman said: "Police were notified just after midnight on 31 May to reports of a concern of welfare of a man on the River Exe.

"Officers attended the scene assisted by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service who conducted a search of the water.

"The body of a 21-year-old man was discovered by Police divers."

A senior councillor with a wealth of experience in local government has been elected as the new Chairman for East Devon District Council for the next year.

Builders, architects and their clients have received prestigious awards for building excellence in projects across South and West Devon.

The awards were presented by Devon Building Control Partnership (DBCp), at a ceremony held at Old Forde House, Newton Abbot on 28th April

An all-star line-up of chefs has been confirmed for this year’s Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink including Tom Kerridge who will join festival co-founder Michael Caines MBE in the cookery theatre on the Sunday.

Work continues on historic tramway

Join Dartmoor National Park Ranger Simon Lee on Sunday 14 August 2016 as he leads a team of volunteers to continue working on the popular Templer Way walking route near Haytor.

The day runs from 10:30 until 3:30 and starts at the National Park Visitor Centre, Haytor.

The Templer Way follows the route by which granite was taken from the quarries in the Haytor area during the 1800s on an 18 mile journey to Teignmouth on the south coast.

A granite tramway was used to transport the stone down to Stover Canal from where it was shipped down to the docks at Teignmouth....

Second man arrested after A380 hit and run

A second man has been arrested by police in connection with the hit and run death of a pedestrian on the A380 on Sunday.

Police have arrested a 58-year-old from Newton Abbot, on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and he awaits questioning at Torquay custody centre.
