An Exeter mum’s festive challenge to make a charity Christmas mascot for the Devon Freewheelers, based in Honiton, will fuel a blood bike for 1,000 miles.
Tammy Tudor, of Beacon Heath, Exeter, raised £140 by crocheting Christmas coats for teddy bears for the charity to sell at fundraising events.

First-time London Marathon runner Kelly Lawson, from Exeter, completed the 26.2 miles in just over four hours, to raise vital funds for the Devon Freewheelers charity, based in Honiton.

The Devon NHS Ride of Thanks raised more than £2,967 for the Devon Freewheelers charity thanks to the generosity of more than 600 motorcyclists’ donations.

Exeter’s 14th annual Really Big Quiz, held at the Corn Exchange in aid of Devon Freewheelers, has succeeded in raising over £7,600 for the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s charity of the year.

Pupils from Blundell’s Prep School, Tiverton, were thrilled to hand over more than £2000 to Devon Freewheelers, the emergency courier service. The youngsters raised the money during the autumn term through a variety of initiatives including selling Christmas cards that they had designed, collections taken at their carol service and running games and selling second hand books and toys and refreshments at their Christmas market. In celebration of its 170th anniversary season, Exeter Philharmonic Choir has announced the city’s first ever Lord Mayor’s Concert to be performed at Exeter Cathedral on October 22.
It will feature popular choral oratorio, Handel’s ‘Messiah’, which includes the well-known Hallelujah chorus.
