A chance to land a job in the football industry is on offer for aspiring coaches, managers and administrators with an event in Exeter on Sunday 24 February running from 1-5pm.

Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion campaign, will descend on the University of Exeter to host Raise Your Game, a free afternoon which pairs experienced individuals already working in the game with youngsters hoping to gain valuable advice to follow in their footsteps.

New activities for young people in Exmouth

Devon County Council's Devon Youth Service in Exmouth is starting new Wednesday evening sessions for people in school years seven and eight.

Between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the Hive youth centre on Imperial Road is arranging activities including arts and crafts, table tennis, hall games, karaoke, cooking and more.

The sessions are run by two qualified youth workers with young volunteers.

Exeter primary schools to receive safe internet training

Devon and Cornwall Police have developed a safe internet training course for primary schools in Exeter.

The course guides attendees through the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) ‘think U know?’ suite of activities for children.

Community safety officer Julia Watton says, “With the internet being used for every aspect of our lives, it’s imperative that children are educated in its uses and safeguarded from its dangers”.

It will be ‘fingers on buzzers’ at the University of Exeter on Wednesday 30th January as students and lecturers prepare for the arrival of BBC Radio 4’s lively quiz show, The 3rd Degree .

The show, which is hosted by comedian Steve Punt, pits a team of three academics – world-leading specialists in their field of Psychology, Bioscience and Philosophy, against a team of three undergraduates, who study the subjects of the lecturers.

Boots staff and customers evacuated from High Street store

Staff members and customers were forced to evacuate Boots the Chemist's Exeter High Street store this morning following a fire alarm, which sounded at approximately 10.15am. Initially staff congregated outside Harry's Bar to the rear of the store, but were later moved up to Northernhay Gardens.

The store was closed for about 20 minutes, and shivering staff members were allowed to return after the fire crew had fully checked the building and were sure it was safe to return.

Man freed from his car after collision on Topsham Road

Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service helped to free a man from his car following a road traffic collision near Countess Wear in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews responded to a call at 2.14am, sending one fire appliance from Topsham, one fire appliance from Middlemoor and the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor to the scene.

One male was released from the vehicle by Fire Service personnel using small tools and a spine board. The casualty was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police appeal after thief steals church silverware

Police in Exmouth are appealing for information following the theft of silverware from the church of St Michaels & All Angels in Otterton, East Devon sometime between Sunday 20th January and Thursday 24th January.

The offender(s) entered the church during daylight when the Church was unlocked and stole silverware from the vestry.

Amongst items stolen were a silver wafer box holder, three silver chalices and a small silver dish.

Recycle Devon Awards to thank 'super recyclers'

Devon’s super recyclers are being recognised in a special ceremony to thank them for their hard work in helping to protect Devon’s environment.

This will be the first year of the Recycle Devon Thank You Awards, which mark the 10-year anniversary of the Don’t Let Devon go to waste campaign.

Devon enjoys a recycling rate of 55% (2011/12), making it one of the highest recycling counties in the country. To celebrate and thank the residents of Devon, Recycle Devon is hosting the special event.

Rearranged date for City’s trip to Bristol Rovers announced

The rearranged date for Exeter City’s trip to Bristol Rovers has been announced as Wednesday 6th March (7.45pm).

City’s trip to the Memorial Stadium was originally due to take place last weekend, but heavy snowfall in the Bristol area meant the game had to be called off on grounds of safety.

Now the West Country derby between the Grecians and the Pirates will take place under the floodlights at the Mem on a Wednesday evening.

Ticketing details for the rearranged fixture will be confirmed shortly.
