Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) has engaged a PR and communications expert to help develop and implement a comms strategy to raise awareness of its work.

Freelance PR executive Sue Cade, who has a wealth of experience within the renewable energy and sustainability sector, joins the charity on a part-time basis.

With spring finally pushing through the last remnants of winter, St Paul’s Church in Honiton is set to play host to a Spring Violin Recital on Wednesday 19th March at 7.30pm.

The event, sponsored by Gilbert Stephens Solicitors, will feature Devon violinist Marie Langrishe. Marie is 19 and lives near Honiton. She started learning the violin aged 7, and continued musical studies whilst studying at Maynard School in Exeter, where she led both the school orchestras and the school quartet for a number of years.

Charity hopes 2014 will really be the Year of the Horse

As Friday 31 January 2014 marked the beginning of the Year of the Horse in the Chinese calendar, the RSPCA is announcing a huge rise in the numbers of horses rescued and taken in by the charity in England in 2013.

The charity is also highlighting some of the incidents from the past year that made 2013 unlucky for our equine companions.

Figures show that the number of horses taken in or rescued by the charity in England rose by 69 per cent compared with 2012. In 2013, the RSPCA rescued, collected or took in 1,526 equines, compared with 901 the previous year. These horses...

Devon’s recycling heroes celebrated at the Recycle Devon Thank You awards

Devon’s super recyclers are being recognised in a special ceremony to thank them for their hard work in helping to protect Devon’s environment.

This will be the second year of the Recycle Devon Thank You awards which last year marked the 10 year anniversary of the Don’t Let Devon go to waste campaign.

The A380 between Splatford Split, Kennford and Kingsteignton has been closed in both directions because of an unsafe building as strong winds and torrential rain continue to batter the region.

Other roads affected:

A358 Devon - A358 Weycroft Bridge in Axminster closed in both directions near the Lodge Lane junction, because of flooding.

A38 Devon - A38 Tamar Bridge in Plymouth closed to high sided vehicles between The Toll Booths, St Budeaux, Plymouth and Saltash, Cornwall, because of strong winds.

The finalists will now perform in front of an audience and celebrity judging panel at The NEC in Birmingham! Budleigh residents can choose outdoor gym design

East Devon District Council has been working with Budleigh Salterton Town Council and healthcare professionals to provide Budleigh residents with the free-to-use outdoor gym that they want.
