Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is asking the public to think twice about using disposable BBQs this holiday.
Wayne Rawlins, area manager for risk at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue says:
“Every year we see so many preventable fires caused by disposable BBQs. They are a not only a fire risk when they’re being used, but also pose a risk when being disposed of, causing bin fires, and further damage to the environment to vegetation that has caught alight. Cats Protection is celebrating the first anniversary of a pioneering online adoption process which has rehomed over 20,000 cats around the UK.
The milestone figure coincides with National Pet Month (April) and the one-year anniversary of the launch of Hands Free Homing, a new way of homing cats and kittens which was created in response to the coronavirus restrictions. It has been more popular than the charity could have predicted.

North Devon Hospice has been selected by local employees at Mondelēz International’s Ernest Jackson site to receive a donation of £5,000.

Most companies in the South West are set to increase their investment in technology following the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
