Co Cars and University of Exeter announce sustainable, hire-by-the-hour car scheme

The University of Exeter is the latest organisation to sign up to Co Cars’ business offer, giving staff access to hire-by-the-hour low emission cars, helping to reduce the number of cars on the University’s campuses.

Two brand new Toyota Yaris Hybrids are now available from the University’s Streatham Campus and a third will be available from College Road, St Luke’s later in the summer. The cars can be booked for business travel by University staff 24/7 either online or by smartphone and are also available for all Co Cars members to book and use.

Every Spring and Autumn Freemasons from all around Devon meet to support local organisations and charities who are require financial assistance, amongst those included are Schools, Youth Centres and locally based charities including Hospices, Hospital Services and Cancer Charities.

Responding to the needs of the local communities in and around Seaton and Axminster, Hospiscare@Home provides 24/7 hands-on nursing support at home for people with a life-limiting illness in the final months or weeks of life. The service is provided by local charity Hospiscare and is generously supported by Seaton & District Hospital League of Friends and The League of Friends of Axminster Hospital.

Exeter Festival organisers reveal line-up

An eclectic mix of local bands and musicians have been chosen to play at this summer’s Exeter Festival.

The free afternoon of music takes place in Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens on Saturday 6 July.

Earlier in the year local bands and musicians were invited to pitch for a slot at the Exeter Festival, which runs from 5 to 7 July.

RGB Building Supplies is delighted to have joined forces with Devon-based charity Amigos and is inviting members of the local community to donate preloved tools, which will be used by young people in Africa to help them lift themselves and their families out of poverty.

Until Wednesday 31st July, preloved hand, power and gardening tools can be placed in the collection bags in RGB’s Exeter branch. Amigos will then arrange for the donations to be collected, repaired and shipped to Africa.

Exeter Chiefs will reveal their new cup and home kit for the 2019/20 season at a special launch event in July. After the success of last year's event, Rob Baxter and members of the Exeter Chiefs squad will return to Exeter Quay on Saturday, 20th July.

World's biggest Plogathon set for Exeter

Planet Earth Games and Plastic Free Exeter have agreed a partnership to deliver a ‘Plogathon’ – which organisers believe could be the biggest plogging event in the world. Plogging refers to the activity of picking up litter whilst jogging - a Swedish derived term, from "plocka" (to pick up) and "jogga" (to jog). From its beginnings in Sweden in 2016, plogging now represents an increasingly global movement, evidenced by the representation of over 40 countries in the official online “Plogga” group.

Celebrate cycling in Devon during Bike Week

A month-long cycle challenge will be held throughout June to support Bike Week.

Devon County Council is working with Love to Ride Devon to support Bike Week and the cycle challenge throughout next month.
