Exeter Chamber announces partnership with Wollens

Exeter Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce a two-year partnership agreement with newly branded legal firm Wollens, formerly Wollen Michelmore.

The growing law firm employs nearly 200 people across offices in Torquay, Dartmouth, Newton Abbot and Barnstaple, as well as in Cathedral Yard, Exeter.

The partnership will include increased profile for Wollens at Chamber events, and in the Chamber weekly news publication – a hub for timely business news in Greater Exeter.

Council to start improvement works to Maer Road Car Park in Exmouth

East Devon District Council is to commence improvement works, including resurfacing and construction of a new entrance, at Maer Road car park in Exmouth. Work will begin on Monday 13 May 2019 and is expected to last approximately six weeks.

The car park will remain open while work takes place, with only a small area initially closed for the construction of the new entrance and for the contractor’s compound. During the resurfacing part of the works, a larger area of the car park will be closed. However, parking will be available throughout the project.

East Devon District Council is implementing a scheme to reduce the risk of flooding to over 70 homes in the village of Feniton, which involves a system of channels and culverts to divert flood water around the village and away from the homes at risk. Funding secured for Bikeability cycle training in Devon

More than 8,800 school pupils across Devon will be able to receive Bikeability cycle training this year after a successful funding bid by Devon County Council.

Just over £283,000 has been secured from the Department for Transport in order to deliver Bikeability and adult cycle training.

Bikeability provides children with important skills to help them cycle more safely and more often. Devon County Council has now helped over 70,000 children take part in the free training since 2006. Secondary schools are also being reminded that they are able to host free Bikeability Level 3...

Two teams from Colyton Grammar School, a state selective secondary school in Devon, have come top in the national Student Investor Challenge competition, beating 9,369 teams from schools around the country.
