Honiton-based, “Say Yes To Life” Karate club came Runners-up in the medal table at the annual Seiwakai Open International Karate tournament in London on Sunday at the club’s very first competitive appearance.
Say Yes To Life teaches traditional Goju-Ryu Karate (as seen in the original Karate Kid movie with ‘Mr Miyagi’ and ‘Daniel Son’). Sport karate is only occasionally taught which makes the team’s success at the tournament even more noteworthy.

Exeter lawyer Becky Wyld has been chosen to form part of a mosaic to mark 100 years of Women’s Suffrage which is being unveiled at Birmingham’s New Street Station on Thursday 15 November.

Becky, who is a Legal Executive in the health advisory and litigation team in Browne Jacobson’s Exeter office, was one of 23 inspirational female employees nominated by colleagues at the national firm to be a part of the Network Rail initiative.
Civic leaders have signed an open letter backing Exeter-based airline Flybe and recognising the important contribution the company makes to the local economy.
The move comes as Flybe announced disappointing financial results this morning on the Stock Exchange.
Flybe is the largest independent regional airline in Europe and carries eight million passengers a year between 81 airports.
The airline employs 1,000 people at Exeter Airport including high value aviation and engineering roles. Two-thirds of passengers at Exeter Airport fly with Flybe.

Organisers of TEDxExeter, the leading South West ideas festival, have announced that tickets for its eighth annual event will soon be released for sale.
Tickets for the much-anticipated day will be available from 10am on Friday 30th November 2018 via ticket website Eventbrite.
