Gas pipe investment work begins in Exeter

Wales & West Utilities is set to start a £1 million gas pipe investment scheme in the Newton St Cyres and Cowley areas of Exeter which will make sure that local homes and businesses continue to receive a safe and reliable gas supply for years to come.

Starting this week, the work will involve upgrading nearly 8 km of old metal pipes to new plastic ones on the A377 Cowley Bridge Road and adjacent roads. It will take approximately a year to complete.

First look inside Vospers £12m Exeter supersite

Vospers have released the first interior images of their new 61,215 square foot state of the art facility in Exeter, destined to open late 2018.

The supersite at Matford will include five state of the art showrooms for Ford, Mazda, Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, all with the latest corporate identity and futuristic technology to aid customers in making a purchasing decision.

There will also be a dedicated Transit Centre and Business Centre, catering for business and retail customers, and a Used Car Centre with an all makes on display, totalling more than 250 used cars.

YMCA residents launch crowdfunding campaign ahead of pop-up café

Young residents living at YMCA Exeter have launched a crowdfunding campaign to support their pop-up café initiative this August in Princesshay.

The crowdfunding campaign, which includes incentives Exeter Cookery School, is aiming to raise £6,000 for a one week, pop-up community café on Paris Street.

Households in East Devon will soon be receiving a form asking residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for those living at their address is correct as part of East Devon’s annual voter registration canvass.

The aim of the form is to ensure that the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

The new Universal Credit benefit is being rolled out in the Honiton area and an East Devon District Council team is helping the town’s Jobcentre Plus to advise and assist applicants.

The district council is committed to supporting working age residents in the move to Universal Credit and working with Jobcentre Plus to deliver this important welfare change.

Students at Newton Abbot’s pioneering technical college were put through their paces when a Royal Marine Chef visited to lead an energetic cooking masterclass.

Year 10 and Year 12 students of South Devon University Technical College (UTC) received a lesson in healthy cooking from Colour Sergeant Mike Beaton.
