Volunteers are needed to plant 2,200 new trees in East Devon.

This winter, East Devon District Council’s Environmental Health team has been working hard helping people and businesses who care for dogs and cats to comply with new animal welfare legislation, which came into force on 1 October 2018. The legislation has been brought in to improve animal welfare standards, for example for dogs and cats being looked after in boarding facilities. Fast-growing suicide bereavement charity Pete's Dragons appeals for trustees

A fast-growing charity that supports suicide bereaved families is appealing for new trustees to help shape its bright future. Award-winning Pete’s Dragons, which has received national and international recognition, is on the lookout for volunteers to join its board as it continues to expand ‘exponentially’.

The Exmouth-based charity supports families and individuals across Devon and also provides market-leading suicide prevention training around the country and abroad.

Pete’s Dragons currently has a caseload of 91, which equates to around 300 people across Devon.

Turf-cutting ceremony takes place at site of new East Devon school

The construction of the brand-new Westclyst Community Primary School (WCPS) building at Hillside Gardens, Westclyst was marked with an official turf cutting ceremony at the site on 5 November 2018.

East Devon planners approve new cycling and walking trail in East Devon

On Tuesday 30th October, East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee approved a planning application for a new three metre-wide surfaced multi-user trail at Clyst St Mary, from the bridge over the Grindle Brook at Winslade Park, to Kenniford Farm in Clyst St George.

A total length of 1.1 kilometres, it will form part of the Clyst Valley Trail. When complete the Trail will be a 13-km (8 mile) commuting and leisure route, linking the Exe Estuary Trail at Darts Farm with Killerton House and Park by way of an existing multi-use trail from Broadclyst.

Spectators have 174km (108miles) of Devon’s roads to choose from when it comes to watching the Devon Stage Tour of Britain on Monday 3 September.

Hospiscare supporters will be taking to the skies above East Devon on Saturday 18 August for a morning of skydives at Dunkeswell Airfield to raise funds for the charity, which supports adults with terminal illnesses in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.
