East Devon District Council has recently introduced a second group of public spaces protection orders (PSPOs) which are local measures used to control a range of unacceptable activities.
This new order, made on June 6 2017, relates to possession of intoxicating substances (including alcohol), urination and defecation (in public), aggressive begging, and behaving in a way likely to cause harassment or intimidation. The order applies in a large area in the centre of Exmouth. The alcohol provisions only also apply to a smaller area of Sidmouth.
The line-up of best-selling authors and budding literary stars for the annual Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival has been announced.
Now in its ninth year, the themes of the 2017 Festival will be nature, wildlife and history, including family history and memoir. There will also be magical events for children to help mark the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book.

Honda Accords were targeted over the weekend, as car parts were removed and almost £5,000 worth of tools were stolen from two vans.
Between 5.30pm on Sunday 18 June and 8am on Monday 19 June an exhaust and a catalytic converter was cut off a blue Honda Accord that was parked in the Fraser Road area of Exmouth. Another catalytic converter was stolen with another having been removed from a bronze Honda Accord in the Moormead area of Budleigh Salterton during a similar time-frame.

2017 is set to be the busiest summer season yet for East Devon's two Education Rangers, with more than 60 groups already booked for a day’s outdoor learning experience, enjoying East Devon’s outstanding environment.
