Beef farming and Devon’s beef industry could be under threat if the UK left the European Union, Environment Secretary Elizabeth Truss warned today.

93 per cent of all our beef exports went to the EU in 2015 and so beef farmers could lose millions of pounds of business if they lost access to the vital EU single market.

From steak frites to boeuf bourguignon, hamburgers to hachée, high-quality British beef is used in classic dishes across Europe, with 92,000 tonnes, worth £320million, heading to our EU neighbours last year. Devon plays a central role in this with the region’s...

Wasps 25 Exeter Chiefs 24

In 1956 at Aintree it was Devon Loch who seemed destined for Grand National glory only to crash when in sight of the finish line.

Fifty years later, ironically on the same day as the world’s most famous horse race, it was Rob Baxter’s Exeter Chiefs side who slipped in the final furlong, losing their first-ever European Champions Cup quarter-final at the hands of rivals Wasps.

As the stadium clock clicked it’s way into the final second of 80 pulsating minutes, it was home full-back Charles Piutau who powered his way over the whitewash to deliver a telling blow on the...

They say the best form of defence is to attack and that’s the philosophy Rob Baxter will be instilling into his Exeter Chiefs side ahead of tomorrow’s European Champions Cup quarter-final with Wasps at the Ricoh Arena (3:15pm).

For the first time in the club’s history, the Chiefs find themselves vying for a spot in the last four of Europe’s top club competition.

It’s new and uncharted waters for the Devon club, who in just six seasons have risen out of the Championship to establish themselves as one of the growing forces within the English and European game.

Flamenco Flamenco: A European collaboration

Europe, in - out, or just visiting? Given the upcoming referendum, positive examples of European co-operation seem all the more noteworthy.

Today I came across an example which certainly made me think.

Claudia Caolin, an international Flamenco teacher and performer, is in the final stages of preparation for an international dance piece, which will be in Exeter on the 23rd of April, in the Barnfield Theatre.

Although born in Germany, Claudia has been living and working in the Southwest of England for more than 10 years from where she has assembled an international...

Chiefs reach Champions Cup quarter-finals

Exeter Chiefs 33 Ospreys 17: Match report.

And so the European adventure continues for Exeter Chiefs following an unbelievable final round of action in Pool Two of this season’s Champions Cup.

Seemingly with a mountain to climb ahead of kick-off, Rob Baxter’s side dug deep not only to see off the Ospreys with a five-try blast, but at the same time preserve their lengthy home record.

Exeter’s 33-17 victory will live long in the minds of those who packed into Sandy Park, whilst for those watching on TV at home, the viewing was equally compelling as they advanced to...

Bordeaux-Begles edge out Exeter Chiefs

Bordeaux-Begles 34 Chiefs 27: Match report

It’s not quite over, but Exeter’s hopes of advancing in this season’s Champions Cup are hanging by a thread after defeat away to Bordeaux-Begles.

Like two prize fighters battling away in the ring, the rivalling teams traded countless blows before the Englishmen were finally floored by Marco Tauleigne’s converted try ten minutes from time.

His late touchdown was the last of eight tries scored at the Stade Chaban Delmas and means Rob Baxter’s Chiefs side now need somewhat of a miracle to advance into the quarter-finals....

Exeter Chiefs confirm Services Day

With Exeter Chiefs bracing themselves for an exciting conclusion to their European Champions Cup qualification from Pool Two, the club can confirm they will be carrying out a special ticket offer for the forthcoming home game against Ospreys on Sunday, January 24.

Following the success of a similar idea in previous seasons, the Chiefs will again be recognising the efforts of all our Armed Forces and Emergency Services by staging a special match-day in their honour.

For the Ospreys clash, which will kick-off at the slightly later time of 3.15pm, any serving member of the...

Chiefs storm to bonus point win

Exeter Chiefs 31 ASM Clermont Auvergne 14: Match report

New England coach Eddie Jones witnessed first hand what many in the Westcountry having been bleating on about for some time – Exeter Chiefs are the fast becoming the growing force within the European game.

Not content with proving their worth in the Aviva Premiership, now Rob Baxter’s side blooded the nose of one of the star names within the Champions Cup, sealing a maximum haul against visiting ASM Clermont Auvergne.

Three years ago it was the French outfit who were ruling the roost, twice dispatching of Devon...
