Local firms get behind TEDxExeter

Some of Exeter’s best known organisations are getting behind an inspiring event, which is set to bring some of the world’s best thinkers to the city this year.

TEDxExeter, which will take place on 24 April at the Exeter Northcott Theatre, sold out in a couple of hours before Christmas.

Whoever said ‘it’s not a problem, but an opportunity’ might have been talking about Honiton’s reaction to the challenges the community faces as a result of budget cuts in the public sector and local services being under threat.

Mecca Exeter is hosting a onesie charity event on Monday 19 January to help customers banish the January Blues on the most depressing day of the year, ‘Blue Monday’.

Originally identified in 2005, the third Monday in January has come to be known as ‘Blue Monday’ - as millions of Brits struggle with December credit card bills, failed post-festive diets and gloomy weather.

But this year, Mecca Exeter employees and customers can brighten up the most depressing day of the year by donning a onesie to raise a smile and much needed funds for Carers Trust, Mecca’s partnered charity...

The Cathedral's three resident organists perform with our choir of children and adults in celebration of the organ's 350th anniversary year.

Following an extensive restoration (completed at the end of 2014) the organ will be back in action, taking a solo role, together with providing the accompaniment for the Cathedral Choir.

This popular concert takes place in the candlelit nave of the Cathedral.
