Summer events announced at Exeter Phoenix

This summer, Exeter Phoenix has some excellent live music ranging from a local band tipped to make it big, The Computers, to the American living legend, Lonnie Liston Smith.

Jenny Eclair returns to Exeter after a sell-out show last year and Antara, which mixes contemporary Bollywood dance with world music and urban poetry is set to be a beautifully moving performance.

Exeter Respect 2013 attracts record first day crowds

The first day of the Exeter Respect Festival 2013 has been hailed as a resounding success as a record number of people - approximately 13,500 in total so far according to Cllr Ian Martin, one of the Festival organising committee - flooded through the gates of Belmont Park for Exeter's celebration of diversity. With the weather set to be fine again tomorrow (2 June) it is fairly safe to say that the Festival will smash last year's total visitor numbers of 20,000 over the two days.

Big Sleep event to raise awareness of sleeping rough

On Thursday 7 March regional charity Young Devon is hosting its Big Sleep Out event in Exeter’s Princesshay from 8pm – 8am to raise awareness of the issues of homelessness for young people in Devon. Young Devon is asking local young people take to their sleeping bags to experience sleeping rough for a night. The Big Sleep Out aims to raise awareness about the hundreds of young people that sleep rough in the local community every single night. The charity is urging young people to take part in the event to raise vital funds which will support hundreds of young people that require emergency...
