Exeter Cathedral has announced the return of its popular team quiz night. Comedian and author Tony Hawks has once again agreed to host the event, which takes place on Thursday 13th October 2016 in the medieval Nave of the Cathedral. A regular on the Radio Four show “I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue” and is author of several best-selling books, including “Round Ireland With A Fridge”, Tony will be pitting the assembled team's wits against one another from the pulpit. On 5th September, Exeter’s cultural venues will celebrate a new season of events taking place in the city.

The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter Cathedral, The Cygnet Theatre, Devon Libraries, Exeter Northcott Theatre, Exeter Phoenix and RAMM, will officially announce an exciting programme of events taking place between September and December at a launch party held at The Bike Shed Theatre.

Exeter Cathedral awarded £170,000 for urgent repairs

Exeter Cathedral has been awarded £170,000 for vital repairs to keep the building dry as part of the government’s First World War Centenary Cathedrals repair fund.

The grant will pay for urgent work to the drainage around the Cathedral, which is vital for taking water away from the stonework and not causing damp and decay.

The Dean, Very Revd Jonathan Draper, welcomed the grant, and said it would pay for important work to part of the Cathedral which – though unnoticed by the thousands of visitors who pass through its doors each year – was vital for the building’s long term...
