Exeter Chiefs parking initiative raises over £1,600

Exeter Chiefs and Ashfords LLP have recently combined forces making Ashfords' car park on the Exeter Business Park available for the park-and-ride service to the Exeter Chiefs stadium at Sandy Park. Exeter Chiefs run the service but have donated a generous £1,650 from the parking fees which Ashfords has put towards their fundraising total for their charity of the year, Parkinson's UK.

Susan Bennett, Facilities Manager at Ashfords LLP commented: " We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Chiefs with their charity donations for using our car park. With Sandy Park having limited...

Baxter pleased with win

Delighted Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter was full of praise for his side after they recorded a first-ever European Champions Cup win in France with a 20-12 victory against Bordeaux-Begles.

Having been undone by their Top 14 hosts the week previous at Sandy Park, the Chiefs gained sweet revenge courtesy of tries from Thomas Waldrom and Luke Cowan-Dickie, plus ten points from the boot of fly-half Henry Slade.

Three penalties from Lionel Beauxis, plus another from replacement Baptiste Serin, helped to keep the home side in touch for much of the contest, but they were left...

Chiefs make history with win

Exeter Chiefs added another piece of history into their short European history by claiming a first-ever win on French soil in the Champions Cup.

Sure, Rob Baxter’s side have triumphed on the other side of the Channel in Bourgoin and La Rochelle, but both those success stories came in Europe’s second tier competition.

In the wine-making region of Bordeaux, Baxter was able to toast a famous day for his team as they saw off their French rivals courtesy of tries from Thomas Waldrom and Luke Cowan-Dickie, plus ten points from the boot of fly-half Henry Slade (pictured).

Chiefs side to face Bordeaux Begles

The European aspirations of Exeter Chiefs may be hanging by a thread after three successive losses in this season’s Champions Cup, but head coach Rob Baxter says it is imperative his side don't allow themselves to flounder during the remainder of the competition.

Just a week after coming unstuck 13-7 at home to French rivals Bordeaux Begles, the two sides meet again tomorrow at the Stade Chaban Delmas (4pm) in a game which Baxter insists has plenty on it.

Frustrated by his side’s inability to turn possession and territory into greater reward last time out, the Chiefs will...

Horstmann relishes upcoming battle

Kai Horstmann insists he and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates will use the disappointment of last weekend’s home defeat to Bordeaux Begles as the ideal motivation ahead of tomorrow’s latest European match-up in the Champions Cup (2pm).

Undone 13-7 by the Frenchman at Sandy Park last Sunday, the two clubs lock horns once more in Round 4 of the competition at the Stade Chaban Delmas.

Having suffered three defeats in as many games so far this season, it’s hardly been the European campaign Rob Baxter’s team would have envisaged when they set out in the opening fixture back in...

Exeter Foundation funds vital equipment for Hospiscare

The Exeter Foundation has donated £5000 to Exeter-based adult hospice charity, Hospiscare, to help fund 60 nurse bags.

The bags, which will hold key pieces of diagnostic equipment, will be used by Hospiscare’s 28 community nurses and bank staff at patient’s homes, nursing homes and at hospices to help diagnose patients more directly.

In addition to the 60 bags, the donation has facilitated the purchase of key equipment including thermometers, stethoscopes, urinalysis sticks, pulse oximeters – which check and monitor changes in pulse rates, and sphygmomanometers – which...

Jack Nowell says there has been little time for him and his Exeter Chiefs team-mates to dwell on the disappointment of last weekend’s European Champions Cup loss at the hands of Bordeaux Begles.

The Chiefs saw their European aspirations suffer more disappointment as they slipped to a third successive defeat in Pool 5, going down 13-7 at Sandy Park to the visiting Frenchmen.

This Saturday the two sides will lock horns in the latest round of action, this time at the Stade Chaban Delmas (2pm), and Nowell insists the Premiership club will be looking to bounce back at the first...

Future visitors to Exeter Cathedral will soon see a symbol of the city’s rugby club adorning part of its façade after a new stone carving was unveiled this week.

In what is an extensive project on the Cathedral’s East Gable, work has been going on for a number of months to address parts of the stonework that need replacing or re-conditioning.

And part of the project has been to replace four corbel stones, all of which are to now have a new look moving forward.

As Clerk of Works Chris Sampson explains: “The project we are currently working on will see us replace...
