Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes new signing Will Hooley is a “great fit” for his side after he today sealed a move from Aviva Premiership counterparts Northampton Saints.
The 21-year-old fly-half is the latest addition in what is proving a busy period of squad strengthening from Baxter ahead of the 2015/16 season.
Already the Devon club have brought in Geoff Parling, Ollie Woodburn, Michele Campagnaro, Ollie Atkins and Shaun Malton - and Hooley’s arrival will further boost what is looking like another powerful mix at Sandy Park next term.
Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their attacking options for next season with the acquisition of young fly-half Will Hooley from Aviva Premiership rivals Northampton Saints.
The 21-year-old playmaker has penned terms on a two-year deal at Sandy Park and will provide top quality competition for the No.10 role alongside current incumbents Gareth Steenson and Henry Slade.
Cambridge-born Hooley arrives at Sandy Park having joined the Saints Academy as a 12-year-old. Since then, he has grown in stature at Franklin’s Gardens and worked his way into Jim Mallinder’s first-team squad,...

Exeter Chiefs booked themselves a first-ever European semi-final encounter as they brushed aside Aviva Premiership rivals Newcastle Falcons with a six-try blast at Sandy Park.
Rob Baxter’s side dominated throughout and sealed a last four date with Gloucester in a fortnight’s time thanks to a Penalty Try and further touchdowns from Dave Ewers, Thomas Waldrom (pictured), Byron McGuigan, Sam Hill and Dean Mumm.
Fly-half Henry Slade weighed in with a further 14 points before Gareth Steenson maintained the scoring sequence with two late conversions for the hosts.
Newcomer Shaun Malton says he’s ready to start an “exciting new chapter in his life” after he became the latest addition to Rob Baxter’s first team squad at Exeter Chiefs.
The South African-born hooker is the Devon club’s fifth new addition ahead of the 2015/16 season and joins on a two-year deal from Championship outfit Nottingham.
Malton, who has previously had spells with London Irish and also the Sharks in the Currie Cup, admitted the chance to join the Aviva Premiership club was an opportunity he simply could not resist.
Prop Alex Brown insists Exeter has become ‘home from home’ for him and that he was more than happy to extend his stay with the Chiefs for a further two years at least.
Signed during the summer of 2013 from Championship side Doncaster Knights, the Rochford-born tight-head has settled well to life in the Westcountry and has established himself as a proven force within the Exeter front-row.
An LV= Cup winner last term, Brown was also part of this season’s squad that came within a whisker of reclaiming their crown against Saracens at Northampton a fortnight ago.
Just how important this losing bonus point might be we won’t know for a few weeks yet, but the fact Exeter Chiefs salvaged something from a tough afternoon in the East Midlands could be quite telling in the grand scheme of things.
With time all but up, it appeared Rob Baxter’s side were going to head home from their latest trek to the East Midlands with little more than a muddy shirt and a heap of ‘if only’s’ to contemplate.
Thankfully, the Chiefs never know when they are beaten and in one last hurrah – or should I say – one last push of defiance, they won a successful...
Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter was the special guest at an event which celebrated the launch of a new business magazine for Devon.
Business and Professional Life is a quality, quarterly publication partnered by a daily digital platform.
The new initiative is the result of a link-up between Archant, the publishers of Devon Life, and The Daily UK, which owns two citizen journalism websites, The Exeter Daily and The Plymouth Daily.
It is a ground-breaking alliance and thought to be the first time in the UK that an independent digital publisher has joined forces...
It may be a long-standing sporting cliché, but Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter insists he and his team are literally taking things ‘one game at a time’ as the Aviva Premiership heads towards its final run-in.
With just five rounds of the scheduled season remaining, the Chiefs find themselves perched second in the standings and handily placed for a first-ever shot at getting into the end of season play-offs.
However, the Devon club are just one of a handful of clubs who harbour similar aspirations and with just five points separating Exeter in second and Wasps in sixth,...
