Exeter Chiefs

Super start for Exeter Chiefs

If this is the sign of things to come, then Exeter Chiefs supporters can expect a pretty exciting season ahead in the Aviva Premiership.

Rob Baxter’s side produced a stellar, record-breaking performance to ruin London Welsh’s return to English rugby’s top tier.

Debutant Thomas Waldrom led the charge with two tries, but there were a further five touchdowns for the Devonians who amassed over 50 points in the Premiership for the first time.

Dave Ewers, Sam Hill, Ian Whitten, Jack Arnott and Chrysander Botha also got in on the scoring act, while fly-half Gareth Steenson...

Pre-season has come and gone for another year, but now it's down to the 'real stuff' as Exeter Chiefs prepare to kick-off their fifth year in the Aviva Premiership.

First up for Rob Baxter's side is Sunday's trip to newly-promoted London Welsh, a side the Devon club know all too well following numerous encounters with the Exiles in both the Premiership and RFU Championship.

It's a clash which, according to Baxter, should provide the ideal starting point for his Class of 2014/15 as they prepare for a new term of action in English rugby's top flight.

Here's the new squad ready to face the new season, on a new pitch.

Rob Baxter's new-look team open their campaign at newly-promoted London Welsh on Sunday before taking on the Leicester Tigers at home the following Saturday.

After a multi-million pound revamp, Sandy Park promises to be even bigger and better for those heading to the region’s premier sporting club this season.

And from as little as £330 for adults; £200 for students and £165 for children under-16, you can guarantee your place in certain sections of the South West Communications Stand – at a reduction...

Exeter Chiefs captain Dean Mumm will watch from the Kassam Stadium stands when his team’s new Aviva Premiership season kicks off against London Welsh on Sunday, but has faith in his young team-mates to begin with a bang.

The former Australia lock underwent surgery on his shoulder over the summer and is not fit enough to lead out the reigning LV= Cup holders this weekend.

It means a youthful looking side will be left to battle against the Aviva Premiership new boys. But, despite some of the squad’s younger players having displayed a rawness in pre-season training, the 30-...

This is the sight that awaits Exeter Chiefs fans when they arrive at Sandy Park for the first game of the season next Saurday.

Work has been continuing late into the night to ensure the multi-miliion pound improvement works are complete.

The west stand has been extended, the east stand now has terracing and the pitch is a mixture of grass and a state-of-the art synthetic material.

Sandy Park will be one of the best stadiums in the Aviva Premiership thanks to the summer investment.

Pat Phibbs back at Sandy Park

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has confirmed Pat Phibbs is to return to the club on trial with immediate effect.

The Australian scrum-half signed for London Irish on a two-year deal in February 2013 but was released this summer after breaking a foot in pre-season last year.

However, pre-season knocks to Dave Lewis and Will Chudley have meant Baxter is keen to ensure there is sufficient cover for the start of the new Aviva Premiership season, which gets underway this Sunday with a trip to newly-promoted London Welsh (2pm).

Lewis is currently sidelined with an...

Chiefs continue winning ways

Exeter Chiefs wrapped up an impressive pre-season programme by making it ‘three from three’ with victory over Dean Ryan’s Worcester Warriors at Sixways.

Having already accrued pre-season wins at Cardiff Blues and Ulster during the past fortnight, the Warriors provided the final opposition for Baxter’s side ahead of their Aviva Premiership opener against London Welsh next Sunday.

However, the Midlanders could not contain the powerful Chiefs who claimed tries through Jack Yeandle (2), Mitch Lees and Thomas Waldroms, as well as conversions from Gareth Steenson (2) and Henry...

New wheels for Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs will take to the road this season with a stylish new look following the delivery this week of the club's latest state-of-the-art team coach. As these pictures show, Rob Baxter and his playing squad will be travelling to rugby venues across the country in style following the acquisition of the new vehicle this summer. Fitted with all the latest mod-cons, including an on-board kitchen, Digital TV, DVD player, X-Box and music system, the Aviva Premiership club may well be the envy of their league rivals as they hit the motorway network of the UK this term. At a cost of just over...

Having revved up for the new Aviva Premiership season with victories already over Cardiff Blues and Ulster, Exeter Chiefs will be looking to fine tune their game plan in tonight’s final pre-season friendly against Worcester Warriors at Sixways (7.30).

Head coach Rob Baxter admits he has been largely encouraged with his squad’s pre-season work so far, but the acid test will ultimately come when the Devon club kick-off their league campaign at newly-promoted London Welsh on Sunday week.

To ensure the Chiefs head into that tussle in fine fettle, Baxter is aiming to use his...

Meet warrior Chief Black (eye) Jack!

You're looking forward to your opportunity in front of the media ahead of the new season and your picture being taken for the website and programme.

Your hair's been trimmed and the summer tan is looking good and then... WHACK.

That's what happened to academy youngster Jack Stanley shortly before the Exeter Chiefs annual media day.

A training session clash left him with the shiner of all shiners.

But in true rugby player fashion, Jack, an England under-18 international, put on his best grin and proudly displayed his battle scars.

Jack, a former...
