Educational diabetes event near Exeter

Diabetes UK will run one of a national series of free educational events to provide expert advice and information for people recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in Exeter in October.

The ‘Living with Diabetes Day’ will be held at Exeter Racecourse on Wednesday, October 22. The events are being held at 80 locations across the UK and it is expected that 10,000 people with Type 2 diabetes will attend them over the next two years.

Hampers for winning racehorse owners at Exeter Racecourse

Exeter Racecourse and Devon Hampers have teamed up to create a special hamper which will be presented to the winning owner of each day’s feature race at its 15 meetings during its 2014-2015 season.

General manager Tim Darby spent a morning at the Arundell Arms in Lifton, where Devon Hampers is based, and selected a dozen products to whet the appetite of owners.

He said: “There was so much to choose from, and in the end we picked what we thought was a good representation from Devon."

A thousand rainbows raise £48,000 for CHSW

Exeter’s first ever Rainbow Run on Sunday (8 June) was a resounding success.

This crazy, fun event was raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West and 1,000 participants raised an astonishing £48,000 for the charity, which has three children’s hospices in North Devon, Cornwall and North Somerset.

Held at the Exeter Racecourse, this is the first time that the Rainbow Run has taken place in Devon.

Self build call to action

Residents and businesses are invited to a self-build event hosted by Teignbridge District Council on Friday 13 June at Exeter Racecourse.

The ‘self build call to action’ afternoon aims to help people get more information about how they go about building their own home. Guests can network, get advice from those in the know, look at various stands and exhibits and get involved with a question and answer session.

Free Easter eggs will be handed out to the first 500 children at Exeter Racecourse’s family day which takes place next Tuesday (April 15). Exeter Racecourse launches new children’s art competition

Exeter Racecourse has launched a fabulous new art competition for children aged 11 and under with the overall winner featured on the front page of its racecard on Family Day, April 15.

Exeter want children to come up with vibrant designs which depict the colour and vibrancy of a day at the races, from the brightly coloured silks worn by jockeys, to smiling faces in the crowds.
