Exeter Santa Run announce changes for this year's event

Ironbridge Runner Events have announced that entries for the 2012 Santa Run are now open - and selling fast! The event takes place on Sunday 2nd December and this year there are some changes to the format.

The event moves from the city centre to Exeter Quay, starting and finishing on the Piazza Terracina. Alongside the Fun Run which is suitable for all the family, is a competitive 5k. A dedicated website has been launched to support a campaign to attract businesses to Devon.

Devon Delivers is aiming to encourage companies to move to the county to be part of the next chapter of Devon’s economic success story.

Following on from last year’s awareness raising campaign, Devon County Council has developed the new website for Devon Delivers, www.investdevon.co.uk , designed to make relocation as straight-forward as possible. News that parliament will be given chance to debate the government’s TB eradication programme and the inclusion of badger controls has been welcomed by the NFU.

Jo Pavey backs Devon's Olympic 2012 legacy

Devon County Council has today (Wed 17 October, 2012) confirmed its commitment to making the most of this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games by pledging £310,000 to a 2012 Legacy plan for grassroots sport in the county. Unemployment on a downward trend in Devon

The number of people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA) in Devon has fallen by 2.8% over the past month.

The claimant count across the county has gone down by 263 claimants between August and September, falling from 9,273 to 9,010.

This is the second consecutive month that the number of people claiming JSA has been lower than at the same time last year. Although this follows the national trend, the yearly fall of 5.7% in Devon demonstrates a faster reduction than the UK average of 1.6%.

After spending over a year researching, writing and recording, members of the CEDA activity hub are celebrating as their hard work makes it online for all to enjoy.

Thanks to the generous support of the Heritage lottery fund the Exeter based disability charity has been working with its members learning all about the history of our great city.
