Christmas jumper dining for Save the Children

The Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary is hosting a festive Christmas Jumper fundraising feast for pre-Christmas revellers.

Diners joining the fun on Friday 19th December will be obliged to wear a jumper festooned with a seasonal motif or decoration, although chef Robin Rea believes some will go the extra mile.

“I’m sure we’ll be seeing some extra special efforts from creative Rusty Pig diners,” he said.

Robin will choose his favourite jumper on the night, and the wearer will enjoy their meal for free.

Ottery's flaming fundraiser success

Crowds of Ottery locals enjoyed a themed feast at the Rusty Pig in Yonder Street during this year’s Tar Barrels, helping to raise funds for the Carnival Committee.

£5 from every ticket sold for the Guy Fawkes and Gunpowder event went into the fundraising pot. This was added to the proceeds from the Rusty Pig’s catering van ‒ which sold around 150 free range sausages on the night ‒ amounting to an impressive £500.

“I’ve run the outside catering before, but this is the first year that I have opened the restaurant,” explained Robin Rea, owner of the ethical restaurant....

New partnerships for Great South West Walks

The South West Coast Path Association is pleased to announce two new partnerships for their 2014 fundraising event, the Great South West Walks.

The Great South West Walks 2014, which will take place from 20th - 28th September, hopes to see 1,500 people taking part in 100 guided sponsored walks in order to raise funds for the improvement of the South West Coast Path.

Three new prebendaries for Exeter Cathedral

Three senior clergy in the Diocese of Exeter have been made prebendaries of Exeter Cathedral, in recognition of their service to the Church in Devon.

Revd Nick Martin, Karl Freeman and Andrew Jones will become prebendaries of the Cathedral - an honorary role, recognised throughout the Church of England, which makes them a part of the College of Canons, a body which advises the Cathedral on a wide variety of matters at the request of the Dean and Chapter.
