Medicine students graduate early to help on COVID-19 frontline

Medicine and Medical Imaging students from the University of Exeter Medical School have opted to graduate early so they can qualify as junior doctors and diagnostic radiographers to ease pressure on the NHS in the battle against COVID-19.

More than 50 final year students have opted to graduate early, meaning they will be able to support health trusts months earlier than their planned August start date. As foundation year doctors and radiologists, it is expected that they will free up more experienced colleagues to work on COVID-19 wards in the South West.

First Medicine students graduate from Exeter

The University of Exeter Medical School celebrated a major milestone on July 17, when its first Medical students graduated.

The cohort of 88 students has now completed the five year Medicine programme, and marked their outstanding achievement before moving on to the next phase of their training within the NHS.

Medicine graduate Luke Tester said: “I’m ready to graduate today. It’s been a culmination of five years of hard work. It’s been a team journey between students, peers and staff and today is a celebration for all of us.”

Exeter students marry and graduate on the same day

A young Romanian couple who met while studying together in Exeter have married and graduated from Medical School on the same day.

Both originally from Romania, Nicoleta Craucuic and Alex Tirb honoured the city that brought them together by signing the marriage register in Exeter today, July 17 – in the morning of their graduation this afternoon.

The couple met over 1,600 miles away from home, while studying Medical Imaging at the University of Exeter Medical School. They have now been together for over three years.

Networking evening for University of Exeter alumnae!
