On the opening night of the first ever Relight My Fire festival tomorrow (Tuesday), join performance poet Matt Harvey as he premieres his new energy-inspired collection, The Element In the Room.

Green Party members in Exeter have selected Diana Moore as their parliamentary candidate for the 2015 general election. Ms Moore is a business advisor with extensive experience working with social enterprises, charities and councils across the South West and is a director on the boards of two local cooperatives and a social enterprise. Exeter City Council air quality initiative

Exeter City Council has commissioned a brand new city-wide initiative – a Low Emission Strategy - to improve Exeter’s air quality.

The main aim of the strategy is to protect people - especially the vulnerable - from respiratory and other potentially life-threatening illnesses related to poor air quality caused by traffic.

Free Car Charging opens in Exeter

New free car charging facilities are being installed across Exeter this week in a bid to encourage more people to use electric vehicles.

From Friday (28 March) drivers will be able to charge electric vehicles at four key sites in the city, with four more to follow by 21 April,

Officers from Teignbridge District Council and the Environment Agency are taking to the waters to check water flows with the little help of a harmless fluorescent dye.

Teignbridge and the Environment Agency are carrying out detailed water movement surveys at Teignmouth Beach on 17 and 25 March in an effort to help minimise the risk from pollution.

Residents in a DCH housing scheme in Exeter have come together for a ‘community clean up’. Arena Park’s Green Group braved the cold weather to get out on their estate to clean up their local park and hedgerows.

Lesley Browne, Community Development Worker at DCH, said: “Following the recent storms lots of litter has been blown around the estate and the residents wanted to proactively give the area a clean up. All ages came together to help out, DCH provided litter picks, protective gloves and collection bags to support the event.”
