The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has signed up to two high profile projects which cement its commitment to improving the experience of patients with Dementia and their families when in hospital.

The RD&E has just become the 40th member of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance, a local organisation working towards making Exeter a dementia friendly city.

State-of-the-art equipment at Nuffield

Exeter Chiefs players helped to launch state-of-the-art equipment at an Exeter hospital.

The machinery will provide detailed body scans ensuring quick diagnosis and effective treatment.

Trust’s vocational and young workforce lead named NHS Inclusivity Leader of the Year

Gail Richards, Northern Devon Healthcare Trust’s vocational and young workforce lead has been named NHS Inclusivity Leader of the Year by the South West Leadership Academy. This is in recognition of her work in engaging and developing learning disability interns across the Trust.

Gail has been a key influence in establishing and delivering a number of workforce programmes that support young and less advantaged people, many of whom would not normally consider a career in health or social care. Many of these people have gone on to fulfilling careers within the Trust.

Financial support is available through the NHS for those who need full-time care, says campaigner Roger Burgess.

NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) is funded solely by the NHS for people who have a primary health need.

THE Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is hoping the success of its nurse recruitment open days continues when it holds its latest event in Sidmouth later this month.
