Be first over the line and your sponsorship money doubles! That’s the challenge Mike Kocziban has accepted when entering Hospiscare’s The FUGBY12 men’s walk.
Mike popped into the city’s hospice to meet Hospiscare patients, Ted Gordon and Tim Webb, pictured, who are both sponsoring him. Ted and Tim both regularly attend day care therapy sessions.
“It was a privilege to meet Ted and Tim and to see the great work that Hospiscare do,” said Mike. “I was completely out of shape for the first walk and set myself a personal challenge to complete it.
Glynis Atherton, Hospiscare chief executive, has been awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by the University of Exeter.
She was presented with the award by university Chancellor, Baroness Floella Benjamin at the Winter 2015 graduation ceremony.
Hospiscare which is based in Exeter enjoys long standing and excellent support from the university campus services staff and students.

Katie Cowell wrote to the celebrity chef saying she and her dad were big fans and could he help make her dad’s birthday one to remember. Jamie immediately sent a signed copy of his latest book Comfort Food personalised to the family.

Exeter’s hospice was full over Christmas as doctors and nurses cared for 12 people needing acute specialist help. Dawn Berger, pictured, who lives in St Thomas spent a very enjoyable Christmas Day at the hospice after being admitted a week ago.
She said: “My husband and friends visited, I had a wonderful Christmas lunch sitting in my bed, there was a visit from Santa who gave me toiletries and chocolates and like everybody else does at Christmas I fell asleep.” Dawn’s dog Darcy enjoyed spending the day on her bed.

Exeter charity Hospiscare is celebrating after receiving an early Christmas present - the £3,540 left outside one if its city shops last month.
Today (Thurs) local police officially handed over the cash found outside the Hospiscare Cowick Street shop as the identity of the donor remains a mystery. Richard Potts, 66, arrived 20 days ago at the city hospice two stone underweight and hallucinating because he was not eating nor taking his medication properly. But he is leaving tomorrow (Friday) with a spring in his step and is looking forward to spending time with the daughter he didn’t know existed until four years ago when he received a “bolt out of the blue” letter from her asking to get together.
