Introducing ADVICE EXETER

ADVICE EXETER is a newly formed group of local charities offering free advice and information to local people.

Exeter CAB, Age UK Exeter, Young Devon, Shelter, Community Housing Aid and Homemaker Southwest have teamed up to improve the services they offer to people in Exeter. The partnership, which is funded jointly by Big Lottery Fund and the Cabinet Office, held a successful launch event at Exeter Community Centre in March.

The work of Advice Exeter will include a new online access channel and self-help resource for users, an expanded presence across the city in libraries...

Police appeal nationally after medieval panels stolen from Devon church

Police investigating the theft of two mid-15th century medieval panels from a Devon church are appealing for information nationally. Police believe the panels (pictured) were taken from The Holy Trinity Church in Torbryan, Newton Abbot sometime between Friday 2 August and Friday 9 August. A third panel was also damaged. According to the Churches Conservation Trust the Torbryan screen is one of the most important examples of its kind in the country and is of national interest. Police ask public to help locate prison escapee

Police are asking for the public's help to locate a man who went missing from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire.

Sean Cawthray, aged 41 was last seen on Sunday (December 30th) at HMP Leyhill at about 5.30pm and is thought to have left the prison sometime before 8.30pm.

He was reported missing and police enquiries have been underway since to locate him.

He has links to Leicestershire, Yorkshire, London and the South West and it is possible he may have travelled from the south west to one of these areas.

He is described as a white man, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins...

Flood risk in Halberton near Tiverton

Residents in Halberton are being asked to be aware of the potential risk of flooding this afternoon and tomorrow.

The Grand Western Canal has breached some parts of its banks and is discharging water to the north side of the canal.

Whilst this does not pose an immediate threat, further rainfall tomorrow might make the situation worse.

Highways teams are doing their best to seal the areas where water is leaking and are keeping the situation under review
