On Sunday 28 April, the Killerton rangers need your help to count and learn about the creatures that live in Ashclyst Forest.

Fish at Living Coasts in Torquay have been observed performing a mating behaviour that zookeepers think has never before been recorded. Animal experts filmed female four-eyed fish (Anableps anableps) rocking from side-to-side; this appeared to attract the male to come and mate.

Calling wildlife and countryside photographers

East Devon District Council has launched a competition to find the best photographs of the East Devon Countryside for the Wild East Devon 2019 calendar.

The competition opens on Sunday 1 July 2018 and entries can be sent until Friday 31 August.

All photographs must be taken in East Devon and can be of views, wildlife, wildflowers or trees.

Entrants can enter up to three of their best, high resolution photographs in the competition by emailing them to wild@eastdevon.gov.uk

Zoos are all about exotic species – aren’t they? Well, three top local zoos are doing their bit to highlight the importance of native species.

Paignton Zoo Environmental Park, Living Coasts in Torquay and Newquay Zoo in Cornwall are aiming to give local wildlife a real boost this year.
