Stobart Air unveils new routes from Exeter and Newquay

New flights to Dublin and Belfast announced

Stobart Air, operator of Aer Lingus Regional routes, has today (Tuesday, 20 April) added two new routes to its network, connecting England’s southwestern coast with the island of Ireland.

The new Exeter Airport (EXT) to Dublin Airport (DUB) route will initially operate four times weekly, on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, commencing on 30 August.

The new Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY) to Belfast City Airport (BHD) will initially operate three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, commencing on 28 June....

Toddler dies after being swept into sea

The two year old girl who was in hospital in Bristol having been swept into the sea at Newquay on Friday 19th August sadly died last night. Police have named her as Mckayla Bruynius.

The man who also died as a result of the incident has been named by police as Rudy Bruynius, Mckayla's father. His wife and Mckayla’s mother, Lisinda Bruynius, has made the following statement:

Flybe pilot arrested

A pilot working for Exeter-based airline Flybe was arrested on suspicion of being over the drink drive limit before take off after a fellow crew member raised the alarm.

He was due to fly from Newquay Airport to London Gatwick yesterday morning.

Passengers faced a five-hour delay as a resuilt of the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "A 48-year-old man from Crediton, Devon, was arrested on suspicion of being over the drink-drive limit."

It is understood he was released on police bail last night until December 8.

Unexplained death in Newquay

Police were called to Mount Wise, Newquay just after 6.30am today, 1st July 2014, after reports of a woman was unconscious in the street.

An ambulance was called and the woman was taken to Treliske Hospital where sadly she was pronounced deceased.

A cordon has been set up in the area and the scene is being examined by forensic officers.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

New home – new baby for ‘Help to Buy’ couple at C G Fry & Son Duchy of Cornwall development

Husband and wife, Warren and Gemma Wilkins, are expecting a new arrival at their C G Fry & Son home, purchased under the ‘Help to Buy’ (HTB) scheme at Tregunnel Hill in Newquay, Cornwall. The couple who already have two children, Sebastian aged eight, and Oscar four, are expecting their third child imminently.

Warren Wilkins said: “When Gemma and I first moved into our new C G Fry home last summer, my father jokingly said ‘new home, new baby’, and a few weeks later we found out she was pregnant!”

Police in Newquay are appealing for information to trace a man sought in connection with an assault. Police are seeking to locate and arrest Frazer Rogers aged 28 years, in connection with an alleged assault which occurred in Newquay on Friday 5 April. All enquiries to date have failed to locate him. Rogers is described as a white man, 5’11” in height, slim build, with short straight brown hair. He is known to frequent both Newquay and Truro.
