Free Dog Microchipping by PCSO Will Malcolm and Vets4Pets Staff.

As of 6th April it's compulsory that your dog should be microchipped.

Statistics (we like statistics) show that there are around 1.8 million dogs not chipped which makes them untraceable if they go missing.

You just need to look on this site http://www.doglost.co.uk/ to see how common and frequent dogs do go missing.

As well as dogs going missing we also get the occasional dog that's been dumped, again having it legally chipped will help us ID the animal and owner.

Exeter Labour pledge to increase police presence

We will work with Devon & Cornwall Police to increase the number of police officers and PCSOs on the streets of our city, say Exeter Labour.

Exeter was one of the first cities to pioneer neighbourhood policing, and the faith in that form of policing is now seen nationwide with the introduction of Police Community Support Officers.

In the “Stronger Exeter” survey, Exeter's residents were clear that visible police presence, including PCSOs, is the most important factor in keeping Exeter safe.

PCSO shot by BB gun in Torquay

A 24-year-old man from Braddons Hill Road East, Torquay, is due to appear before Magistrates in Torquay this morning following an incident involving an imitation firearm. Mark Cook was arrested at lunchtime on Monday 15 April 2013 after a Police Community Support Officer was hit by a ball bearing fired from a gun. Officers attended an address in the road and made the arrest a short time later. The suspect was then interviewed before being charged with being in possession of a BB gun and kept in custody pending his court appearance this morning (Tuesday 16 April 2013).

As the latest crime figures showed an overall fall of 6.7 % in the force area, Tony Hogg has once again stressed that keeping officer numbers well above 3,000, instead of dropping to a proposed level of 2,810, is key to continuing this welcome downward trend.
