How safe is your shed?

Most people use their shed to store garden equipment, bicycles and even expensive power tools. Yet, often, sheds are fitted with inadequate locks, or no lock at all.

Since June last year, over seventy-one victims in South Devon had their sheds broken into and property stolen. Almost half of these occurred in Teignbridge.

Fourteen sheds were broken into in Torquay and twelve across Ivybride and Kingsbridge. The areas reporting the fewest number of break-ins were Totnes, Dartmouth, Paignton and Brixham.

Appeal for witnesses after Ottery crash

Police received reports of a collision between a Yellow Ford Focus and a Toyota 4x4 in Wiggaton, Ottery St Mary at around 4.30pm on Friday 13 February.

It is believed that the Ford then failed to stop following the collision and fled the scene. The car was later discovered that evening in a burnt out state on Burscombe Lane.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward, we would also like to hear from anyone who has information relating to the whereabouts of the Yellow Ford Escort following the crash, prior to being discovered in its burnt out state...

Devon and Cornwall Police are reminding people that domestic abuse can happen to anyone and although Valentine’s Day is associated with love and romance, for some, it can prove a traumatic time of year.

The Force is running its ‘Is This Love?’ campaign which aims to raise awareness of the different aspects of abuse – emotional, financial, physical, and sexual.

Domestic abuse is the cruel misuse of power and control by one person over another. It can begin at any time, can be obvious or subtle and can happen suddenly or gradually.

Households in Devon and Cornwall will pay on average an extra £3.31 a year after the Police and Crime Panel approved Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg’s budget and a 1.99 per cent increase in the policing precept for 2015/16.

Family pay tribute Daniel Foale who died in Totnes crash

The family of Daniel Foale, who died following a three-vehicle collision in Totnes at the weekend, pay tribute to a son, brother, grandson and friend who ‘lit up every room he entered’.

Man charged with Dawlish murder

James Luke McDonald, 36, from Dawlish has been charged with the murder of Sophie McDonald and remains in custody to appear at Exeter Magistrates Court tomorrow (Saturday 31st January).

Police were called at around 6.40pm on Wednesday 28th January following reports of a missing person, and an extensive search was undertaken by specialist officers and volunteer search and rescue groups.

Two people have been killed in accidents with lorries on Devon roads.

In Exeter, an 80-year-old man from Broadclyst died following a collision with a lorry on the outskirts of Exeter.

Police and paramedics were called to Exhibition Way, Pinhoe at 2.30pm yesterday (27 January) after reports that a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.

Police confirm Exeter crash victim was 80-year-old man from Broadclyst

Police have confirmed that the pedestrian who died after being hit by a lorry in Pinhoe yesterday afternoon is an 80-year-old man from Broadclyst.

Police officers and paramedics, were called to Exhibition Way, Pinhoe at 2.30pm today, 27th January, after reports that a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

Devon domestic abuse pilot launched

Devon & Cornwall Police and Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service have today launched an innovative pilot project aimed at protecting victims of domestic abuse across South Devon.

Aimed at reducing harm and enabling the most vulnerable to feel safe in their homes agencies will work collaboratively to provide services personalised to victims targeting hidden harm.

Man dies following collision in Exeter

A man has died following a collision on the outskirts of Exeter.

Officers, along with paramedics, were called to Exhibition Way, Pinhoe at 2.30pm today, 27th January after reports that a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death but police are investigating if he was in collision with a lorry.

The man has not been formally identified and his family are currently being traced.

The road is closed at Exhibition Way and Cumberland Way.
