Police officers and staff from Devon and Cornwall Police have been honoured for their years of service at a special ceremony at Padbrook Park, Cullompton. Included in the honours list are Exeter-based Detective Constable Pippa Davies and Fingerprint Expert Emma Parsons.
The ten officers and staff were recognised for 20 years’ service by Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer and Sir John Cave, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Devon.

Two distinctive 10 oz South African Kruger coins have been stolen during a burglary at Sidford. Police are appealing for witnesses after the home in Drakes Avenue was entered between 8.55 and 15.40 on Friday 16th November 2012 when the thieves managed to break in through a PVC door. In addition, they stole several items including electrical items, jewellery and camera equipment. It is likely that this was carried away in a distinctive black Sidmouth Rugby Club kit bag. Among the electrical items, two Asus 11” Shellbooks, an HP laptop and an ACER laptop were also stolen...
Police dog handlers are trying to track down a temporary home for a new puppy before she begins her police training.
Betty, an 11-week-old German shepherd, needs a home for nine months to help with socialisation prior to embarking on her new career.
She is too young to start intensive training, so police require a family to home her with until her first birthday.
Once a fully trained general purpose police dog she will be able to assist tracking missing people, locate stolen property, chase and detain suspects and keep order in crowd...
After a painfully drawn out count, with Devon and Cornwall the last in the country to declare, our new Police and Crime Commissioner has been announced as former naval officer Tony Hogg (Conservative).
The Leader of Devon County Council, John Hart, has welcomed Devon and Cornwall's first Police and Crime Commisioner. He said: "I congratulate Tony Hogg on his election and I look forward to working with him to help reduce crime and to work jointly for the benefit of our communities within Devon."

Police in Exeter are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a 50 year old woman who has not been seen since Wednesday 8th November.
The woman, known as Karen Woodger went missing from her home address in the Magdalen Road area.
Karen is described as white, five feet two inches tall, of slim build with short straight, collar-length hair which has been dyed a reddish brown and is greying. She has a mole on the left side of her neck and a scar on an ear lobe. It is not known what clothing she was wearing.
Police Officers in Torbay are growing increasingly concerned for John Basham aged 49 who has not been seen since Sunday 11th November 2012. John has been reported missing by concerned family and friends and they are desperate to know his whereabouts to ensure that he is safe and well.
John is from the Chelston area of Torquay and was last seen going for a walk in the local area, which may have included Cockington. John is described as a white male, 6ft 1in tall, dark short hair, slim build with blue eyes. John was last known to be wearing blue jeans, a blue anorak and dark coloured...

The elections may well have been surrounded by a certain element of controversy, from whether the should be taking place in the first place to the lack of resources given to the candidates and even the amount of information supplied to the voters. An eighteen year old man from Axminster has died after a car crash last night at Musbury.
He was driving a black Porsche on the A358 when it was in collision with a van. Emergency services attended but he died at the scene... the driver and passenger of the van escaped serious injury. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
On 15 November, 37 police and crime commissioners will be elected in England along with four in Wales.
The PCCs, as they will be known, will be tasked with scrutinising their force and holding it to account. They will also set the budget, and hire and fire chief constables. The commissioners will be paid and are supposed to empower local people into having a say on how crime is tackled.
