Have your say on houses of multiple occupation

There's still time for people to have their say on proposals to extend the principles of licensing for houses of multiple occupation (HMOs) not already covered by the current scheme.

Landlords, tenants, partnership agencies and the public in general are being encouraged to complete a short questionnaire by visiting the City Council's website at www.exeter.gov.uk/additionalhmolicensing

Exeter City Council wants to broaden its licensing to cover rented properties in buildings which have been poorly converted into self-contained flats or flats in multiple occupation above...

Getting festive in St James' Park

One of the UK’s biggest carol services is taking place in the heart of the city, St James' Park football stadium, on Monday 9 December, from 7-8pm.

The carol service, hosted by the university's Evangelical Christian Union, is set to attract over 3,000 students and members of the public to St James’ Park.

Highlights of the evening will include plenty of classic carols, mulled wine, and a talk on the Christmas message. There will also be free mince pies!

Iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader has been reborn – as a life-sized gorilla.

Police ask public to help locate prison escapee

Police are asking for the public's help to locate a man who went missing from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire.

Sean Cawthray, aged 41 was last seen on Sunday (December 30th) at HMP Leyhill at about 5.30pm and is thought to have left the prison sometime before 8.30pm.

He was reported missing and police enquiries have been underway since to locate him.

He has links to Leicestershire, Yorkshire, London and the South West and it is possible he may have travelled from the south west to one of these areas.

He is described as a white man, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins...

Dorset conference to address public/private sector tensions

A high-profile Dorset conference this week (on Wed 5th December) will address the tensions between the public and private sectors.
