Webb Ellis Cup heads for Exeter

Rugby's greatest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will visit Exeter on 10 and 11 July during the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

Launching on June 10, 100 days to go to the opening match, the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England before arriving at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

Aussie lock joins Chiefs

Newcomer Ollie Atkins says he is ready to start a new chapter in his career after agreeing terms on a two-year deal with Aviva Premiership high-flyers Exeter Chiefs.

The Australian-born lock, who will head to the Westcountry after two seasons with Edinburgh Rugby, is Rob Baxter’s fourth capture ahead of next season, joining the likes of Geoff Parling, Ollie Woodburn and Michele Campagnaro at Sandy Park.

Super chefs raise £2800 for charity

A group of diners at Sandy Park were treated to a five-course meal of gastronomic delights, when Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines joined forces with Sandy Park Head Chef Denis Turner.

Held in aid of the Exeter Chiefs’ Charity, the Exeter Foundation, the evening raised a staggering £2800 and highlighted the work of the charity to guests.

The Exeter Foundation is a ‘civic trust’ that was born out of the desire of the Exeter Chiefs and a group of Exeter businessmen to create a focus for the future of the city and its surroundings.

Buddy Bear from Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park joined other Mascots at Sandy Park for some half time fun and frivolity during the Exeter Chiefs v London Welsh rugby match.

This ‘mascots in unison’ event was to mark the Rugby World Cup games coming to Devon and to celebrate Devon’s Top Attractions 30th Anniversary year. More than 40 staff, supporters and learners at WESC Foundation collected £1439 at Sandy Park on Saturday, when Exeter Chiefs played against London Welsh, winning 74/19 to storm into second place in the Premiership.
